If you run alky then you negate those issues. Higher heat is at higher boost when you would have the alky on.
Some people run no IC at all and just use the alky. I didn't believe it myself until I sat in a truck and watched the temps drop by about 70 degrees when the alky came on.
You make a good point though - does a bigger IC need a bigger lower CCHE to cope? I suspect It will depend on a number of factors.
Higher ambient temps - yes, lower ambient temps no. But then it still depends on speed, power etc.
I have an ATR upper and a stock lower but alky and I think I'll be fine. The only concession is an electric fan over the lower so when parked or moving slowly, the lower gets some airflow.
