Intercooler issues...

So I misplaced the cap to the intercooler reservoir, I bought my Ty last year and never got the intercooler hooked up. I was working on it through most of the summer and fall, finally got int running in December so I only drove it during cold weather and things were good.

The overflow nipple had corroded so i put some goop on to plug the hole and went to the drive ins that evening and half way there remembered I never put the cap on, meaning it is somewhere I will never find it...

The corrosion makes me wonder it the whole set up is intact which could leak into the intake. I can not fill the system and check because when the pump kicks on I would imagine that it would pump coolant out... I have a new intercooler and all new silicone lines that I had planned on using but I am not sure about the Garret top part.

So any insight as far as a new cap or a method to test the reservoir or where to go to get a new one? I think I am too far into this go to an A2A now seeing as I just spend $100+ on the pump and prob another bill on the silicone lines...

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Re: Intercooler issues...

I am also in the market for chipping it. I have sent a couple emails to the 2 guys I guess that do/make them (both I found through the SyTy.net web site) but have gotten no response. I read the 10in1 is probably my best option. If you guys have any insight as far as that goes that would also be appreciated.

Apparently a Honda Civic radiator cap will also work

Discussed here:

You should be able to run the pump with the cap removed and not have fluid gush out. Some fluid may dribble out, so keep a rag nearby. Obviously you don't want to drive around without a cap.

If you haven't noticed any major leaks on the system it might be okay.

Edit: If the truck is cooled down it won't gush out but if its hot it can gush out like a hot radiator so do this when the truck is cold.

Hey thanks for the link... Does it matter what year? I checked out that thread and no year was mentioned...

Re: Intercooler issues...

As far as the cap...try Sportmachines here. They have a lot of spare parts laying around.

For the chip...I recommend Hoodtuned.com also from here.

Both are top notch
