Re: Intercooler blanket

Update... PTB just got in contact with me, and they're looking at ideas for the blanket. Mike they did receive your upper IC... thanks!

Things will progress during the next few days and I'll post more as it comes in.

Re: Intercooler blanket

Ughhh.....

Sorry guys, I just got this email from PTB this morning.... looks like they've decided they don't want to/can't do the blanket for us :(

They've asked for Mike's address to get the IC back to him, so I'll take care of that.

Dang!

From PTB...
"Rob,

I am sorry to say I can not complete this project for you as much as I would like.

If you can provide me with a shipping address I will return this item to you or your friend.

Thanks,
PTP Turbo Blankets"

Re: Intercooler blanket

Bummer :(. So it basically came down to a price per blanket being to expensive? If that be the case, I suppose the thing to do is ask how much would people be willing to pay for one. A BIG THANKS goes out for trying to set up this GP anyways Rob :)! I'm kinda on the fence since I may be going air to air in the future. I had another crack appear in my intercooler :

Polishing it was a complete waste of time, wish I wouldn't have messed with it . After I get it welded up for a second time, I don't even wanna see it...

Re: Intercooler blanket

Yup, big bummer Mike. Thanks to you for sending out the IC. I sent Joe your address and asked for a tracking number and specifically asked to package carefully so that if UPS drop kicks the box nothing will get bent.
I'm not sure what happened... Joe didn't seem to want to talk about it.... just guessing, but with their geographic location I wonder if it had something to do with workers, and the 'guest worker program'? ;)
I've got a friend here in town who builds all the heat abatement coverings for military aircraft (http://www.kennoncovers.com/militaryaircraftcovers.htm). I'll see if he can come up with something for us.

Re: Intercooler blanket

I appreciate the time and effort of everyone here who tried to get this thing rolling. It would be nice to know why it got the sudden axe. If it was a price thing, I am sure members here would understand and would be willing to work a little.

Never the less, if your friend wants to tackle it, count me in. Thanks for trying:cheers:

X 2. Thanks for trying and if this GP is picked up by an alternate vendor I am also still interested.

Re: Intercooler blanket

GP is back on!

OK guys, I spoke with PTB today to get Mike's IC back to him. I managed to get them to pick this up again.

They are estimating the price is going to be about the same as a turbo blanket - around $100. It may be a bit less but please don't count on it.

Here's the kicker. Their price breaks happen at a quantity of 50 pieces. I asked if we'd have to buy all 50, or whether we could get as many interested and purchase for the GP then they could sell the remainder at a higher price. I haven't gotten that answer back yet.

As an alternative I could buy all 50, do the GP, and then have an inventory here for those who wanted one (later sales would once again be at a higher price). I would have to charge shipping and paypal fees if I have to inventory and ship.

So, who is still in taking all of this into consideration??

Please post your interest with a simple "I'm in", and I'll come up with the final numbers.

Thanks :D
Rob

wow either way Rob that is kickass of you to buy them and sell later, i think the markup later is justified specially for you going on a limb buying so many!
