I am getting OEM Zr-1 Wheel's from a 1996 Camaro SS delivered Monday and need to know what I will need to get them installed. Do I need different bolt's and I keep on reading that the axle end's need to be shaved down 1/4 of an inch. I have a little time since they are going to be powder-coated. Any info would be appreciated.

easy
cut the stub axles off short enuf to clear the center caps on front.
rears will bolt on, but sit a bit too far in for best looks - use vette brakes, in florida, spacewrs - i run 3/4 inch on mine, and they fit perfect - no hassles, no vibrations, all good.
i used tuner style lug nuts
the ooem ones wont fit, and r ugly as hell
u can usee oem camaro lugs if u want

FWIW, I ordered the ZR-1s in CHROME with the GRAN SPORT offset and I didnt have to touch a single stub shaft..... My suggestion is to take off center cap and install 1-2 lugnuts and see where you are, it maybe painfully obvious or it maybe delightfully obvious what your options are..

My wheels were manufactured by OE Concepts, alot of people that buy the AFS wheels have to lop off the stub shafts...

Just a suggestion...........

ZR-1 wheels are 9.5 in. wide in the front and 11 inch wide in the rear, so spacers are not an issue, as true ZR-1 spec wheels fit perfect.

ZR-1 wheels are not style specific. There are ZR-1 wheels from 1990 up to like 1996. Lots of folks call the 5 spoke style wheels "ZR-1's". This is not correct as the 5 spoke style wheel came on regular corvettes, camaros etc... The main difference ZR-1 Corvette wheels exhibit is rear width, otherwise they look the same as the regular corvettes of the same vintage.
Confusing the issue may result in spending cash on spacers not needed or buying wheels that were not as wide as desired.

"ZR-1" wheels

"ZR-1" wheels

I just sold a set of factory 17" camaro SS wheels and replaced them with a 5 spoke ZR-1 9.5, and 11". When I installed the factory Camaro SS wheels w/ 275-45-17 tires I needed to remove 3/16" from the front axle stub to get the cap on. I used a small hacksaw so I could go slow and make a nice straight cut. I finished it off with a chamfer w/ a large file and it turned out looking like the factory did it. No problems will occur if it should ever need servicing. The rears will bolt on but will not have the correct offset. If you want the rears to match the front exactly. You will need a 1 1/8"- 1 1/4" wheel spacer. I purchased mine from VETTE BRAKES. They are about 200 bux. They are a very nice piece and come with all the appropriate lug nuts nothing else to buy but some fancy chrome lug nuts for the front. I can send you a picture of the spacers installed when they were on my truck if you like. Hope this helps Dale Sy 2228
