Installed Ultimate & 50# Inj. - now truck barely runs

Just got my Sy and it sounds like I may have a similar problem here.... The previous owner told me he added a chip or something but didnt tell me what it was. I will have to ask him on tuesday. At WOT the truck sputters and loses power, but when I barely give it gas it runs smooth. Its kind of a rough ride at all times... Is that bad? The exhaust is cut off short in front of the rear tire and makes the loudest sputtering noise when I punch it. I cant even launch right, some pontiac grand prix passed me up today and there was nothing I could do about it. :x

I suspect your truck is not running right, might have a BAD chip, KB or otherwise, and if your not careful, you will be asking about where to get a new engine, and syty's are garbage trucks.

Just what I see in the crystal ball.

Do yourself a favor, get a scan tool (datamaster and laptop is best), and start reading FAQ's, and doing searches.

A truck will shut it self down, if it is running bad, but it can only do so much.

The best help your gonna get is by calling Sean, since we can't really walk you through it on here.

These trucks fuel supply is inadequate in stock form, much less with a chip.

And if I recall your in Cali, and probably can't get over 91 octane (except race gas). Be careful, and call Sean.

Your going to need a tuneup, now. CR42TS ACdelco plugs, and Conrad cap and rotor.

Lets keep the questions in the other threads that you started, so you can get the most help.

i can get 92 octane but its like 30 miles away. is it worth the 1 octane difference or should I just buy some of that octane booster in a can? also, I took the truck to jiffylube and had them change everything: fuel filter, air filter, oil (synthetic), radiator flushed, the works... I will go get the items you mentioned I need. lastly, who is sean and how do i get ahold of him?

I had a bad chip once causing the car to barely idle and stall, but I had it replaced with a functional one and everyone works great. If your not happy with the big injector setup, you can still run low 12's maybe high 11's with a stock injector Ultimate and the 3 bar.

No indications it was the MAP:
ECM didn't throw codes.
Tested ok.

Swapped it out, everything fixed.
Might be worth a try.

Number one, it hasnt been even close to three years; number two, shit I just finalized my setup pretty recently (top end). Was doing one tranny then another, you guys know how tough that shit is, then decided to go different heads, then different this, then different that, suspension shit. So many different things...

When I am running, Ill go get timeslips. No talking shit, no childish bickering. I am completey happy with how meticulously my typhoon is getting worked on and amazed at some of the other stuff coming out of the shop. If I had a Typhoon because I wanted to make other people happy I would have sold it the first month I got it. I have it because I love it.

sorry if i took the ASSumption. but hell, if rockford built my truck i wouldnt race it either. might break the crank, or somthing.

Everyone should just forget this guy since he obviously doesn't think he may have possibly made any mistakes. And he wants to keep crying about how his truck does not run right, instead of accepting it and trying to fix the problem. So let him figure it out if his install is so perfect then why does he need everyone else to tell him why his truck doesn't run.

dude, this was dropped pages ago, we are now moving forward. he is making an effort to be civil and work the problem out.

Well then it took him long enough. Hey everyone here is just here to give support and help. But if you complain and don't want the help, then too bad. But if he is trying to fix the problem through the right channels now, then good. And by the way wheeler :fist: right back at ya. But enough of the petty bull SH*T. The Bay area fellows are great people, I have no problems with anyone except Mike Bridges, and that’s personal. I could bring it out here, but what is the point.

BTW, what have you done for the SyTy community in the Bay Area? I was the first to hold 2 or 3 SyTy events at my house every year for years, with food, and refreshments at no charge to anyone, but I left that area and no longer able to do that. Tom Dowd who took over, since I couldn’t, puts on a great event. However, Gorden Jennings had the best SyTy event in the Bay area.

BTW, how did your Sy/Ty gathering turn out? I heard only like 5 trucks showed up, he he :eek:

This HAN event WAS NEVER my event, I just happen to live here, and I just happened to provide a BBQ rib dinner to all attendees, and no cost to anyone…..’cept me. Oh BTW, we had over 20 people here for that day, unfortunately most did not have the trucks here, due to miscellaneous malfunctions.

Nobody stomped on anyone or put anyone down. You haven't seen a piss poor attitude...not even close. I'm just slightly frustrated with this chip and injector install. BUT, I will settle down and assume that we can get this sorted out and all will be good. So can Brian or Mike please tell me if PROM ID 01002 is the correct version for a stock motor Sy with stock turbo, manifolds, DP, internals, etc.?

Amazing that BG and Mike would EVEN respond to you let alone help you out with this childish behavior you seem to have.

Let’s see if you are man enough to apologize to Mike and BG??????????? I doubt you can do it, although I haven’t read the entire thread, so perhaps you did.

I also think that Mike and BG deserve a public apology for the way they were treated in the beginning of this thread.
They obviously have incredible character to help someone who abused them needlessly.

OK, here's an update on the Ultimate issues. Brian and I worked on this for several months and finally yesterday we got everything working. He reprogrammed the chip with the "stock injector" program (v.7) and I'm now running the stock injectors again. Result - truck runs faster than ever at T1-15 with 91 octane and alky injection. Today I'm going to try adding 5 gallons of Xylene to my tank and not using alky. I was getting up to 11 degrees of KR when I tested the truck yesterday with the new chip...not good. Going to use race fuel or Xylene from now on since the pump gas here in California is just unacceptable. So I never did get the 50# chip or injectors working right in my truck but I think I can go quite a bit faster using the stockers. Only variables that changed between running like total garbage and now were the Ultimate and the injectors. Next mods will be a 2800 stall converter, ATR headers, and PTE 52 turbo. I really appreciate Brian working with me and making things right...will definitely do business with him again :D And for those who bashed me saying my installation or tuning skills were the problem... :fist:

Don't you think you should look into why your getting 11 degrees of knock before you add Xylene ? 11 degrees of knock is unacceptable with pump gas at stock boost levels. Sounds like a time bomb to me.
