...was produced again just like OEM, be available to purchase for a reasonable cost, fits better than original (less gapping, tighter fitting pieces), and made from better material than original (tabs wont break, pieces wont become brittle or oxidize as easy over time)?

I'll leave it at that. I am limited to what I can say at the moment. No joking, no daydreaming, no screwing around.

Discuss and show me serious interest.

Re: What if cladding...

That would be interesting. I think if that happened, original OEM parts would skyrocket in prices, and then those pieces would be sought after for originality,
I do think that it would be great to see them produced with a less-brittle material, Interest would be there, but in limited quanitites. I think it is a great idea, just don't know how much $ would be in it,...

depending on material, i might be interested as the owner of the original molds has no interest in selling

I'm all for it, when I was restoring my Typhoon it was a pain trying to get a hold of cladding pieces for a reasonable price.

My source can gaurantee that these will be exactly like original production pieces... they can be done exactly like there were made for the trucks, but if we have the option to improve on the design to fix all the shortcomings of the cladding, it can be done. Stronger tabs, better material, waveness of the finish gone, the horrible gapping and body fitment...etc.

But if you guys want to see EXACT original, let me know. I will pass the info along.

Ken, tell me what material you would like to see. This is the feedback I need to bring back to ensure if this does go through based on your guys interest, it's done right.

Re: What if cladding...

ABS plastic would be perfect its cheap durable and very easy to repair

Re: What if cladding...

Re: What if cladding...

I dont need any pieces YET, but when I do I would like to know that they will be of a better quality than the OEM and have a better fit and finish. It would be nice if the new pieces were also lighter (our SyTy's could stand to lose a few pounds, like me) without sacrificing strength. As for OEM, IMO is for bragging and Barrette Jackson, trailer queens. My Ty is my daily driver, so I need something that will stand up to life in Miami.

ABS would be fine..

tpo/ppo is old anyhow..

i'd suggest selling the cladding with some rubber insulation to keep any cladding from rubbing through the paint causing rust.

Re: What if cladding...

Re: What if cladding...

I'm interested too. My cladding is brittle as hell after 10 years in the heat in Saudi Arabia.

Forget OEM spec - IST said it perfectly. Auctions/Trailer Queens can have the flawed stuff. Original stuff may go up in price but I can't see people knowingly putting inferiro stuff on their trucks if the new and improved stuff is better.

Improve it, make it, sell it.

What is a reasonable price though?

I think this would be an AWSOME thing to happen not only would it help people redoing there trucks but I think it would eliminate alot of part outs.

Yes I drive a Typhoon.
Re: What if cladding...

Re: What if cladding...

I'm very interested. I have literally got to work to find out a couple of my pieces of cladding had fallin off somewhere along the interstate because the factory stuff is too brittle/weak.

BUT with that being said, I was quoted over $3000 for a complete set of fiberglass that needed body work to look factory...WAY too much IMO. Why spend that much when complete trucks have been selling for less than 5 gs??

I think a kit for around 2 grand would be good, the less the better.

I'd definitely be interested in a full set for my Syclone.

Re: What if cladding...

If it were as easy as ordering a set of NEW cladding for a reasonable price I don't think anybody would frown upon that! One thing is that there would be alot of Jimmys rolling around with Typhoon cladding:lol: Id be up for making a four door Jimmy GT or something like that is this were reality.

What the heck? Someone actually owns these molds? Any more info on this, thats pretty interesting. That could be the ticket right there:roll:

Re: What if cladding...

Re: What if cladding...

I would be impressed if a full kit for under 3k could be had regardless the materials used IMHO. Being 14 different peices with only 6 interchangeable ones between the sy and ty doesnt help either .

Im not trying to rain on anyones parade , but it would take a long time to recoup all the start up doesnt costs on a venture like this with a booming economy . The current economic funk even longer ...

More parts are needed no doubt about that , but where does cheap fit in at ?

Pick any 2 of the 3 :
Cheap
New
Better
