so i wasnet sure where to post this... but i was checking out typhoons the other day and saw a really nice clean one... as i was driving it there was a large crack sound and it did a little jump my friend said he could feel it under his feel in the back...

i asked the guy he said it was something with the transmission or something where when u would floor it the teeth or the drive chain would miss the track when switching or something.... he said after a while the drive chains start to get stretched or something...

im not big on cars or anything but i would like to know how much a problem like this would cost to repair...

i have the same problem now.

if its the transfer case (probably)- you can either try and replace the chain and see if that fixes it ($130), or buy a used one ($200-400), or buy a new one off the net ($800). these are only part prices add about $70/hour labor if you have it done somewhere. prolly be around $1500 at the dealer for parts and labor  , but go there and get it because that will be puttin food on my table in two years :)

if its the transmission (probably not but could be), well i hope you've got a bunch of money saved up. dont take it to someone who you dont know if they can do the job properly. dont let them take your syty tranny as a "core". install a trans-cooler. ($1000-2500)

if your not big on engines/cars than i would reccomend buying a new car with a warranty. a syty will give you nothing but heartbeak.......

the torsion bar mount is broken. It sits in a rubber mount on a crossmember right under the seat. Easy cheap fix. All 4x4 s series eat these.
