If I was doing a Shortblock?

if i was looking to build me a shortblock to have ready when the stocker happened to take a dump on me.... Is there a better choice than getting a stock block or just get one of those and start building?

Where are you? I purchased one to do what you plan, just in case if (when) the old one gave up the ghost. I then found a built shortblock I just couldn't pass up. I still have short block FS. Local P/U only tho.

The options are one of the factory blocks or bowtie blocks. What is hp goals?

With the bowties just a FYI they are not inexpensive to build and there are several variations of parts like heads, cranks, blocks etc

Stock block + fill is probably a shed load cheaper.

Late model vortec would be easiest to keep motoring.

Don't know that I have hp goals really. Just thinking that since I have a couple mediocre mods that if the engine gave out that I might as well think about being prepared with something that is built pretty solid and could take some 11 sec maybe a 10 type pass. But I'm not looking to drag race or take to the track either. Just mainly cruise this thing I know the more you play the more you pay.
