I think my IC pump is dead. I just got my truck and when i got it i wired the pump to come on when the ignition is on but it doesnt seem to be working. I turn the ignition on but dont start the truck and dont hear or feel it working. I dont believe it worked before i wired it either. If it is dead where can i get a new one and which one shoud i get??

There is a fuse for the pump behind the alternator. 15A? 10A? Something like that. A regular ATC fuse like the ones in the dash, in a little plastic weatherproof holder a little bit bigger than the fuse. After I got my new pump (which works much better by the way), I realized that fuse was blown, and my stocker was probably still good...

i had my pump wired for about a year. in the spring i took the ty out and the pump no workie. ok, went to wal-mart and bought the bilge pump replacement one that fit's our trucks. put it in and still no workie! like a dumb shit i didn't check the fuse. the moral of this story is to check the fuse first!

When I bought my truck the pump wasn't working, I found the fuse was blown. I applied power to the old IC pump it work for about 30 seconds. It appears as the old pump is getting ready to die it blows the fuse.

Ok, I found the fuse and it was blown. So i replaced it and it still didnt work . I believe i grounded it correctly. I cut the yellow wire and grounded the wire coming from the relay to a ground, is this correct? Is there anything else to try or is this thing dead?

no. you should not have CUT the yellow wire....you are supposed to splice into it and send it to ground.

I made the same mistake of cutting the yellow wire - damn instructions. BUT...I was able to get it to work by connecting the yellow wire NOT going into the relay. The best practice is to just T into the wire - but damn the luck. Mine has worked for 2 years like this.

Ahaaa... Yes, just splice into it, keeping the yellow wire both connected to the relay and ecm.

Excuse my ignorance, but since the wire is already cut should I reconnect the wire from the relay back to the other half of the yellow wire and then attach a ground wire to it. Or do I just move the ground wire from the wire on the relay to the wire coming from he group of wires on the left??
Sorry I’m not good with electrical.

Yes, reconnect it and then ground it. That way you dont have half a wire hanging around for the next owner to try and figure out where it went. If you connect the ones you cut, the only question that will come is "why is this yellow wire grounded"?
Take care and let us know if your pump fires up when you turn the key on.

I had to buy a new relay after doing the same thing. Sliced and grounded the yellow, replaced the fuse, still didn't work. Replaced the relay at Autozone, just brought in the old one and he found me a new one. $10 later, my IC pump worked. HTH,

Ok i reconnect the two wires back together and grounded the wire. And it still isnt working. How can i tell if my relay is bad or not. Or do i just have to buy a new one and try?

Well I replaced the relay and still no luck, the pump does nothing. I guess my last resort is to apply power directly to the pump, however if I'm going to take everything apart anyway I will probably just replace it with a new pump. What’s the best pump to use and where’s the cheapest place get it? And thanks everyone for helping me diagnose this problem.
