I am going to order GM's Deep trans pan kit for my Sy. Does the kit come with a filter? If not whats the part number for the deep pan filter? I will replace the fluid with GM Dextron 3. Do you suggest an additive like Lubeguard? I just changed the fluid but I have a leak using a cheap gasket so this time Im doing it right and going with a deep pan too.

TIA

I have the TCI pan, some like the Derale. I get filters from my ACDelco parts place. Not sure I would bother with the GM pan, maybe pay more than a good quality deep pan with cooling provisions. See www.sytyauthority. net
for the Derale part number.

The Gm is only $20.00 for the pan and $7.00 for the gasket. Do you have to modify anything for the TCI or Derale Pans?

That be cheap. No, I didnt have to modify anything to get my TCI to fit. It has cooling fins on the bottom. The Derale pan has cooling "tubes" at the bottom of the pan.
Lubegaurd in the red bottle has been a suggested addition to the SyTy tranny fluid for some time. It seems to work rather well.

Can you e-mail me a pic of your i/c setup and your engine bay? Someone said I could get some good ideas from you. Along with changing the pan (now Im not sure which Im going with) I'm going to start pepping up the stock I/C a bit.

You don't have to modify anything on the Derale. It's PN is 14104, you can get it from Summit (DER-14104). It can be used with the regular filter (don't need a longer neck), because the filter lays on the cooling tubes.

I have the TCI on my Syclone and had to remove some of the pan to clear the converter cover. Ditto for a bud with a Typhoon as well. Easiest way to remove the excess is to lay the old gasket on top of the TCI and scribe a line where the converter cover is. A die grinder with a cut off wheel works good at cutting through those beefy walls. Not sure why there's a drain plug on the pan though-tranny fluid changes and filter changes are so much easier without one....

Can't you just grind the converter cover? Yeah, I know..old post

Yes, I remember another post where someone did that. You have to grind either the cover or the pan where they overlap...

If your thinking of the new deep GM pan that is on the 4L65E truck transmissions, it won't work with our 700R4. It requires a filter that will not fit our transmission cases. The intake tube is a larger diameter than what our transmissions have. I learned the hard way. It only fits 97 and up 4L60Es and 4L65Es. I did put one in my 98 LS1 Formula and it only holds an additional 1/2 quart over the stock pan.
