I had no intentions...

of joining here just to sell my truck, BUT I just learned today Via CarFax it has a Salvaged title, nothing on the title indicates that whatsoever, lesson learned, I got burned by the previous owner not telling me(if they knew themselves) but i have the feeling they did.. but the miles are correct(43k)

if you guys will allow me to try to sell it that would be great,if not i understand, i know there's probably a bunch of guys that want one and cant or couldn't afford one, but i would consider fair offers, and will lose a lot of money

If nothing else, ALWAYS run a CarFax on anything

So what, just keep it, drive it and enjoy it. Salvage is just a word as long as it was put together right.

you need a certain amount of posts to be able to sell something, but go ahead.

I'm kind of confused...Is the reason you are selling the truck simply because you learned it has a salvage/rebuilt title?

CarFax is a decent INDICATOR but it's not solid as a rock.

If you're concerned about a salvage/rebuilt title, remember that some of these trucks have been stolen and recovered in the past, and depending on state laws and/or insurance companies, many of those trucks have come up with Salvage / Rebuilt titles.

The Salvage / Rebuilt titles which are the ones that "scare" me are the ones where you see where it says it had major damage due to rolling over in a ditch or something of that nature, then 3 months later it's got a branded title and all of a sudden showing registrations in different states at an attempt to "wash" the title.

And of course there are vehicles that have been wrecked (badly) that never have that accident show up on a Carfax report.

Having a rebuilt/salvage title IS a blemish, but IMO, it's more about knowing WHY that vehicle has that branded title rather than just having a rebuilt / salvage title.

My Sy has a salvage title. Bashed in the front sheetmetal and left the frame alone. I don't care and makes me actually feel good not to be modding a original, low mileage truck.

The carfax said salvage/rebuilt.. but we looked it over pretty good, no creases under the hood, i really couldnt find anything at all that showed any signs it had been crashed badly, only place i saw was when i open the drivers door, theres a small place above the cladding.. the truck has had 2 previous owners, the original lived in PA, was given a salvaged title at 24k miles, then the second owner was from NJ, thats the title i have now, and it says nothing at all , only says under title "standard"

When was the salvage?

Different states/insurance companies have different policies for salvage. I would try to figure out why it was totalled as well.

Re: I had no intentions...

From the pics, looks like a nice truck.

I have mixed feelings about salvage or rebuilt titles, so I can understand why you want to dump it. To some its just words on paper.... if you think like me, its like a permanent scar that will haunt you one way or another (reselling the truck and hurting its value to some extent, or future problems that come up from whatever the damage was that gave it the salvage).

I'd look at it 2 ways. Keep on researching and figure out the exact reason why it got a salvage. Like mentioned by Nate, maybe it was a theft recovery and in whatever state it was recovered, its by law to retitle it as salvage/rebuilt. If that was the case, I would enjoy the truck and not feel bad about driving and modding the crap outta it.

If you did find out it was retitled due to extensive damage, well.... I could see why you want it gone for reasons mentioned above. If you do go that route, again... from the pics the truck looks really nice (even with the 20s, which is hard to pull off on these trucks IMHO) and I bet someone out there would be willing to give you fair market value even with a blem title. Dont loose your ass on the truck, there is no reason to take a hard hit on what appears to be a clean truck. :2cents:

So I see that it's for sale now...Is the reason you are selling it simply based upon the fact that you learned it has a salvage title?

Re: I had no intentions...

there is no way it came from PA with a salvage/reconstructed title and left NJ with a clean title. Either Carfax is wrong or it had a clean title in PA and NJ.
