"I couldnt hook up"

Well i pulled out the ty today for the first time in about 5 months (winter) i thought hey now is a good time to get some datamaster runs down...Well i was setting up the labtop and who pulls up, oh a newer style mustang gt, he looks over and says "nice plates", reved and laughed, i said ok wanna try? he was all for it, i didnt have enough time to finish up with the lab top just put it down at got ready....Well i pulled on him all the way till the next light maybe about 4 cars,and i let up, he was spinnin out and i was gone, i pulled up at the next light and simply asked him "so you like the plates now?" he laughed and said "i couldnt hook up, i will get you this summer when the sand is gone", i told him i will be waiting and ready any time..

Is it just me or does everyone have to find an excuss. I kicked the shit out of a V8 firebird and he didn't believe me that my truck has got a 4.3 turbo. The guy insisted that it was a small block. Oh well.
