I saw the black 1992 Typhoon on that TV show Truckin' USA back in the day and wanted one ever since. They were too $$$ when I got my license and I couldnt even find a GN I liked either, so I bought a GTP, used it for 3 years, then finally sold it and bought my Ty after a year or so of searching.

I owned a 91 s-10 4banger for a first car...lowered it, had rims, had stereo then started looking into what can be done with motor...most everything was drop a 350 in it...but of course in the process i got to thinking about syty's and dreamed of owning for since i was 16...7 years later i got one and its been 5 love hate years with her since....currently hating her!

When I was 18, I bought a celica from a guy in Scottsdale at the airpark. He said that his dad just bought a Syclone and asked if I wanted a ride. I didn't know what it was, but when I went home and researched it, I realized what it was. Many years later, I was with my brother in his Corvette and we tangled with a white Ty in Everett, WA. That sealed the deal for me.

I rode with a family member in one the next year (it was a test drive of a brand new one.....had 5-6 miles on it). Then, I met Pete and Nicki in Alaska in 1997 (IIRC) and Pete let me drive his Typhoon (back when it was white/grey and mostly stock). I also met Jamie, Hunter, etc... up there and fell back in love with them. Later that year I bought #1596 and have been miserable ever since.

I found out about them on the internet when I was 15, while I was supposed to be doing a research project in our school library...I fell in love with them, but needed a truck to tow and haul stuff so I bought a Jimmy and began saving for one. 4 years later I bought my ty, it was the best day of my life. :syty:

Bought my first awd turbo'd car the wrx, sold it then regretted it.Was looking for another replacement when i thought back to a friend who had a syclone for a few months then blew it up, but before he did i experienced some great boost launches and that stuck with me.I thought what the hell ill try my luck with one except i have kids that i have to carry on occasion so i bought a Ty and absolutely love it.
My neighbors must think iam nuts the Navigator sits outside while the Ty sits all cushy in a two car garage.

In 2001 I raced a modded SY in my Vette. Got put to shame. Still didnt think they were good lookin at all. My local Vette dealer is a SYTy nut and had afew and explained them to me. Still wasnt sold. My wife had an extreme when we met and I would drive it here and there. It was a nice riding truck but as we all know, gutless. I got to thinkin, why didnt GM make these like Syclones? After our daughter was born and she got out of the hospital, I was online one night looking at TY's. I saw this red one that was seriously sharp. I spent from around 7pm to 2-3am looking and researching them. The next day, we had to go to the doctor for a check up and took the Xtreme. I couldnt drive the damn thing with the car seat so I said...were getting a new car today. 2 hours later we were looking at cars and by accident I went behind this cheesy dealership and there it was, black on black and extremely dirty. It was traded in that morning, the guy hadnt even got all his stuff out it yet. I guess it was on the test drive that I was hooked.

back when i was in like sophmore year of high school i had a 86 trans am as my first car and i loved it and it got a lot of attention.... both good and bad ...but one day i was dicking around trying to mess with people and this little completely blacked out SUV pulled up next to me and when we tried to get something going he dipped on my ass faster than anyone had done before..... i loved the look of it and the next day when i explained the truck to my buddy he told me it was a gmc typhoon and they came stock all black.... i started saving that same day to go buy the exact same truck.... i dont think the guy is on this forum but his plates say "opleezz" and his truck is absolutely sick..... way cooler than mine!

I've always been into GM's S-Series trucks. I've had (incl. the Sy) 5 in the 12 years I've been driving. About 4 or 5 years ago, I was talking to a co-worker who is big into cars/trucks/jeeps/etc. Basicly probing him for info on how to make my truck faster. Well he started talking about Syclones, (we never got them in Canada, so I had never seen one and I missed all the car mags bragging about them back in the early 90's) So anyway he tells me of this article he read (the one above) and I started looking into them. I dreamed of them ever since. Then about 2 years later, I decided it was time, I couldnt wait any longer and I was pretty sure I would be able to afford one. Well no more than 3 months later, I was the proud owner of Sy 2747, bought from a member of this very board. And I've loved it ever since.

i caught wind of the syclone beating just about everything out there. one day on my way home from work. i saw a syclone sitting in a used car lot. quickly pilled a u-turn and slapped my credit card on the counter for a down payment. didnt even go look at the truck or test drive it. next day i went to the bank for a loan and home she came. this was back in 94

I've wanted one since I was 18 when they came out. Back then I had my used 2dr 89 GMC Jimmy 2.8l 5spd. That was my first decent vehicle and I always checked out the local GMC dealer and saw the Syclone and wanted one very badly, too bad I was poor. I made a promise to myself that I would own one at some point in my life.
Two years ago I reenlisted in a combat zone and got a nice tax free bonus, well the initial payment sat the back for over a year and I kinda fell into the Syclone one day. I kinda wish I found this site before hand as I paid a little too much for mine but I'm happy none the less everytime I get it to start and go out for a cruise. The sound of the turbo spooling and the jackhammer 1-2 shift do it for me everytime.

I drooled over the prototype in '89 in Hot Rod magazine.I kept tabs on the project,and even called 1-800-SYCLONE in Dec of '90, they sent me the Sy poster with the sun setting behind it.
The trucks were spanking everything in their path in all the magazines and TV road tests.It was way outta my price range,but I always wanted one.

I was building a model for 4H. One for me, one for my sister. It was a 2 pack model set. One truck was an s10 cameo, the other a Syclone. Never thought much about it. A few years later I was looking at the model, and thought "what is a syclone". Altavistaed it (that all there was back in the day), then I found out about the TYPHOON. Since I had grown to love my S10 blazer, I knew I would get a Ty one day. About 6 years later, I found a local ty with a thrown rod. That was 5 years ago. Still love the truck!
