im loking into getting a sy/ty. after i get all the mods done if i drive around town without a lot of boost until i want to have the power and crank up the boost will it run right ? i know this dont sound right so ill try to explain. say i have all the basic mods including a good boost controller. if i run around at say 15-20# of boost when i want to race how will the the truck act if i want to run around at say 8-10# of boost ? that way the powers not there unless i want it to be and then just crank up the boost. or would i not want to do that ?

They drive like a normal vehicle if you keep your foot out of it.I taught my daughter how to drive in a Typhoon.

Like Jimmy said, if you drive it like a normal car, it drives exactly like a 4.3 S-10 blazer except with firmer shifts. Some chips like the Ultimate allow you to select programs to run 15, 20, and I think 24lb boost at certain timing levels. That's about the only way to "turn up the boost"

She's lucky. I learned in an '86 3/4 ton 4WD Suburban; 454, 4-speed (3-speed + granny hole.) The DMV guy thought I was nuts showing up for my drivers test in it. Parallel parking sucked.

[Hijack] I learned in my Sierra and a '99 suburban ... the DMV here has parking spaces designed for compact cars... after I parked it the guy and I couldn't get out because the cars on either side were so close  [/hijack]

Re: how will it run

what i meant by that is if you get a good boost controller its suppsoed to limit spikes and how much boost the turbo will give off (both max and min)right ? well if you have a fuel pump, bigger injectors, and a chip that are setup to run more fuel to keep up with a bigger turbo if you turn the boost down wont that make it run rich ? or will the fuel pressure regulator kick in and help ( all the extra fuel going to the engine and not being used so it gets sent back to the return line to the tank ) if youre not running as much boost as you can then its not working as hard right ? or woudl this be a bad idea ?

The minimum is 0 psi boost. If you accelerate normally, you will never see boost. My wastegate is set at 15 psi,but it will never see that unless I go WOT.

Basically your right foot controls the boost. If you don't ever punch it,it won't ever spool up.
Just like driving a NA V6 Sonoma/Jimmy.

Re: how will it run

thats what i didnt understand i have looked at bosot controllers before and they were tlaking about adjustable boost levels, limiting turbo spikes, this, that, and the other. i didnt knwo if you lower the boost output if it wouldnt make it as hard on the motor when youre driving around or not. but i know now
