i did a search on this but didnt really find what i was lookin for...

on 91oct i usually get around 6-8* of knock @wot...

what im wondering is how many degrees of knock is "ok" before your in danger of damaging your engine. i didnt really find a specific figure, everyone says "knock=kaboom" but where should i draw the line?

what i want to know is, with the amount of knock im getting, should i be worried about breakin shit if happen to race someone on the street?

What you are seeing is deg of knock retard not knock. The ecu is pulling that much timing so it will not hurt your motor. So you can get 10 deg knock retard and its perfectly safe it just wont run as well. 6-8 its problably about average for crappy 91 octane

wrong phil.

the ecm has to see knock before it can pull timing. and it will continue to pull until the knock stops....then you have no knock..

Yeah, it's the ECM cancelling out the knock. After your timing has been retarded 8°, then you're engine isn't knocking. But there is still detonation between when the knock starts and when however much timing is cut out. On a similar note, the stock chip will only take out 12° of timing due to knock. So if you're seeing 12° of KR, you might actually 15° worth of knock, but the chip can only pull out 12°.

An airbag is designed to save your life, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to avoid hitting things...
