again you need to do some research before you post. "roughly" nothing, there were 2995 Syclones built in 91 (give or take those questionable 3), 2497 Tys in 92 and 2200 Tys in 93.....dont forget about the Sonoma GTs, bringing the total to 7,993. You have no way of accurately accounting for any trucks that went overseas or those that came back and nobody has any idea how many are still in existance. Heck, in 2000, it was estimated that only 68% of these trucks still existed, which would bring the total down to 5,435 trucks.
Yes, there are other owners out there, infact one of our own forum members just saw a beat to crap Syclone out last night driving around Atlantic City, NJ, I have no idea who he was and I know of over 30 trucks in this state alone, some of which arent on this forum. Yes, I did use the number of members on this forum to base my argument from because odds are just because someone owns one of these trucks doesnt mean they are going to assume there is a national event for these things and fact is that 99% of those who even know about Nats.....heard about it through THIS forum.
If people cant drive from NC or GA, then they need to grow a set, end of story. Even from Savanna its 4 hours and 200 miles less than what Ive driven the past 3 years going to KC. You didnt hit my "G spot" with anything, but what got me goin is, yes, it has been mentioned in the past about different locations for the Nats and sure it seems like a good idea on paper, but its not. You probably dont know this either since youve been here for 5 months, but in 2001 it was moved farther west into Kansas, ....I wasnt there cause of the whole 9/11 thing, plus I was in college at that time cause Nats was still bring held in September. It was held in Kansas for 1 year, you can venture to guess why. The following year everyone still wanted to try something "new", so it was moved to Chicago. Sure, there were a lot more people from the Northeast and Canada too, but very few from Florida and I think the only West coasters that were there flew out.
Sure, great, wonderful, I only had to make a 12 hour drive instead of a 20 hour drive, but it also pretty much knocked the chances of me meeting anyone from the west coast, let alone see their trucks......to me, that isnt the "best" Nats could be, not to mention that if Nats went West, Mid, East in a 3 year rotation, whats that gonna mean, people are only gonna go to Nats once every 3 years??? It was moved back to Kansas City for 2003, 2004 and 2005 and will most likely continue to be in Kansas City.........why? Because its centrally located and those who REALLY wanna go, will go, even if they have to fly.
Now I dont know who these "big dogs" are nor do I care, but if I were to guess, I would say the Corvette guys and the Turbo Buick guys are the only ones that go there for anything worth while. Isnt that big Corvette museum in Bowling Green.....no wonder they go there. As for the Buick guys, sure they have an annual meet there, but they also have 2 or 3 other big annual meets around the country, where as we only have 1 meet per year simply because our community isnt big enough to support the costs of having more than 1 even per year.
Last but not least, you need PEOPLE to setup these events, particularly LOCAL PEOPLE. We are fortunate enough to have a great group of men and woman in Missouri and surrounding area which do a great job of putting this event together. If it went to other locations like it did in the past, then 2 more groups of willing people in those locations are going to have to put in some serious work, not to mention I cant recall that many SyTy owners in KY, let alone active ones who would dare take on the task of running the Nats.
If all youre after is greater numbers of people, then just move Nats for Florida, you'll instantly have 200+ trucks, plus whoever comes in from out of state, theres your solution.
