Its fast AND you can haul SH*T! I usally get props, most know its turbo but rarely does anyone know its AWD too.
My wife used to bug the hell out of me for wanting to wrench on fast cars and motorcycles.Then I bought a Sy, when she starts complaining about my Sy I just take her to Costco. That usally keeps her quiet for a couple months. If your married a Sy is the way to go.

Nope haven't made it to the track yet, and I'm not to sure when I will. Sadly the truck is back at RPM. Apparently the turbo was to heavy for the headers and cracked the collector. :roll:
So now Mike has constructed a bracket from the frame to the turbo to support it's weight. Not sure how that looks but Mike was real happy with it, and I have no idea what it's going to cost me. I was hoping to make it to the track with Mike but that's not gonna happen. So I sit and wait, shouldn't be to long. I'm having withdrawls again. :lol:

I guess whe are not the only ones. A guy at my friends work said his stock 87 corvette with 110k miles will smoke his 2006 legacy gt??? OK....
the guy giving me crap has a dodge hemi 2500 4x4 lifted. Need I say more. I had the same truck but mine was a 2x4. He says trucks are for hauling not racing. I said its a sports car with a big trunk. To race someone that slow would not be worth it. The other guys drive minivans, hondas, and one has nice 70 pickup. I know they were just giving me shit but when my boss shows up with his 2003 z06 no one says his car is slow even though my truck will probably beat it.

I've got the classic car thing, but no one comes up to me and ask's me to leave. They just look at the truck, and walk on past it. Thats fine. There are a few people that do pop their head in under the hood and take a gander, point and go damn.
I know people who have 30+ cars. And they ask these same questions. "Why?" Well, why not.
They way I see it. The people that want to talk shit, can. If it gets to thick, offer to race and beat them. When you've won, and odds are you will. Go back up to them and ask them if they see why we drive these. Because not only can they beat just about anything from a stop. No one suspects them. Which makes it even better to drive.

I tend to get alot of comments on my GT.(when it is together and running)
The only thing I ever see is people mistaking my truck for a syclone.....which happens quite frequently.
I hear alot of "why did you make a wannabe syclone?" I just laugh
Alot of people don't know what a syty is...let alone a S-GT. But it is all good, I wouldn't trade my truck for any other vehicle.

Yeah, when I talk about SGT's people give me a odd look. And then say "Why did GM build a truck that looks like a Sy, but with a vortec motor in it and still rwd?" I just come back with.. "its even more rare, that should be enough reason."

People i work with at the dealership give me shit about my truck every time i drive it, why would you spend so much time and money on a POS s10, was anyone hurt in that wreck, blah blah blah, i have broke a tranny, broke a u-joint, and upgraded plenty of other stuff using the lifts here at work, so to them its always broke! But they all shut up when i say, bring anything you want from home or the lot and lets go race, Owner has a 454ss 69 chevelle, we have a z06 on the lot, i salesman has an old cuda, still no takers to date from here, just talkers! The owner says he would feel bad if i broke something racing him! I told him im not afraid of breaking his pride! He didnt like that one tho! :lol: :lol:

I have been turned away from cruises also, I have found that only the local GN club and a lot of the fast imports accept the truck for what it is. Most of the younger kids around have no clue.
My favorite comment is from my wife the first time she saw it "well I guess its a good thing your half mexican" (i dont look it)
Last week I had to renew my insurance waiver with the bank, the sy sits in the garage half torn apart. The stupid B@$#% that I talked to was trying to tell me that they aren going to let me do that on a Sonoma. I told her what it was and that they only made 2998 of them. she responded with "that is a lot of trucks, your not going to pull one over on me" I laughed so hard I was crying. Responded with "well then if its just a Sonoma then you better be talking to the loan officer that loaned me $13,000 for a truck that is worth $3,000" I got a call from both her and my loan officer the next day with an apology from them both.

How many other vehicles that have a production # lower than 3000 can you get for next to nothing? Not to mention the performance factor. It took over 10 years for anybody to catch the 0-60 spec of 4-5 seconds in a truck.
When I wanted a SY I thought I could either spend $15k on a plain everyday vehicle or get a SY for anywhere from 8-12k. And now I own something that is rare and fast. When I try to figure out what kind of car I would rather have, they would all cost me $30k+!!

I drive mine literally evey day, hence DD for me. I cant remember a time whem I'll be filling up for gas and someone NOT asking about it or reminiscing over it.
The question mostly is "so are they as fast as they say ?'". My normal qualifying question is..." what do you compare to represent as FAST?"....and go from there.
We are getting edged out a little more each year ( stock trucks) from bragging rights to some degree, but will always be able to pull the RARE card.
All of the WRX STI's near me are modded and quick. SO I really need to start modding mine and dialing in a tune so I can better represent ! :tup:
