It would really help if we can find out how many Syclones are left, I believe there are probably only 1500 trucks left, if that.

You know how long that would probably take.

You'd have to get all the sales info from GM, which dealers sold them, and how many. Then you'd have to call up the dealers, and I'm sure some have either changed names or went under. Then you'd have to get the owners names weather it be the 1-2-3-4-5th owner.. I can see where that would take a good 2 years+ to get. I'm not saying it wouldnt be cool to do, and see the real number left. But the odds are not in you/our favor. :(

Hey now, I'm trying to pull this "I'm buying a Sy as an investment" on my wife. Its kinda working. :D

Man,
I really didn't expect this thread to take off the way it did, but I do appreciate everyone's input. I hope I didn't give you guys the wrong impression, but I didn't buy my Ty to get rich. I wanted a rare vehicle that was fast and unique, and I beleive that's what I have. It doesn't have high mileage (it's sitting at 80,000), but it doesn't have low mileage either, but from what I've gathered; barring a frame off restoration it's never going to be a collector either. As I said before I love my truck and I never plan on selling it, but I also want my truck to maintain it's value rather than decrease. After all, the title of the thread is "How to increase the value of my truck" not "How to make it collectable".

2 things I'd love to see (personally) are #1 more Sy/Ty clubs (I wish owners would congregate more to swap tips and if nothing else have a few beers) and #2 GM own up to the Sy/Ty's and realize that (even if by accident) they created something special (worth celebrating). 12 years later our trucks are still holding their own against cars with 400+ HP on tap.

Only in a fantasy world would this be more common. I wish it would happen more also! Like I've said before, I envy the people like NASTE who have meets during the year cause there are NO MEETS around this place. :( I have 53K on my Sy but I couldn't get more than $10K for it I don't think. Guess I'll just do like I'm doing now and just let it sit and only drive it when I really feel I can't stand it anymore and maybe 5 years from now I'll be able to pull $9K out of it?

I bought my sy a little over a year ago. It had 9200 miles on the od..completely stock minus the new battery. I paid $16,500. I bought it because I remember drooling over one in 1991 at our local dealership. I had just graduated from high school and the 26 grand was far from my reach.

At this point I store it in my garage, drive it only on sunny, dry days. I have zero intrest in modifying it. And I have to say that I haven't thought once about it being worth a ton of money when I retire..the only return I know for sure I will get is the feeling that I get when I drive it. I love driving it. Sure it maybe a little GMC pickup but it never fails to put a smile on my face when I pull out of the driveway and hit the gas and take off. thats return enough.. of yeah and I love hearing Karen tell me that she loves the little grin I get on my face when I drive it.

I guess my point is..The money is spent..enjoy the sy/ty the way you want and if you get lucky enough to have something thats worth a few bucks down the road thats a added bonus. :D
