How can you tell if you have a 3 bar or 2 bar??

The best way would be to check the part number. Its listed in the archives somewhere. The other alternative is if you have an aftermarket boost gauge, look at the aftermarket gauge and when you are at 0 boost/vac your in dash gauge should read about 7 or so inches of vacuum. If it reads like that then you have a 3bar. If both read 0 boost/vac then you have a 2 bar.

Isn't the Ultimate the only 3-bar chip? So if your truck isn't having all sorts of weird boost problems, you either have an Ultimate and a 3-bar, or some other chip and a standard 2-bar...

Dude, bring your truck over to my house and we'll go over it including looking at your chip to make sure you have the stock one.

good indication would be if an aftermarket boost gauge reads 0 psi, and the stock gauge reads at the first bar below 0.
