Hit a bump hard and fuel pump won't work...........

I replaced my stocker with a Walbro 255 from Ron Gregory about a year ago.

Tonight I was driving through a residential neighborhood I had never been before, going about 20mph and wham, the front tires hit pretty hard, but the back, OMG was it loud. The engine shut off and I coasted to the side of the road.

I walked back to see what I had hi, it was a speed bump that was not painted, just regular asphalt, and I failed to see it.

Tried to restart the truck and it would start then die within 2-3 seconds. Pop the hood release the pressure at the fuel line (i don't have a fuel pressure gauge) and it seemed to drain forever. Lots of air also. When it was all done I went back and turned the key forward, checked again and no pressure. Had my friend turn the key while i had my ear to the gas tank and nothing.

No trouble codes are present.

Will be siphoning my FULL tank of gas tomorrow and dropping the tank to see what i can find.

I was wondering if anyone had any similiar experience, or could give me some tips on the subject.

When my fuel pump went in my blazer it was the same thing, turn the key, engine would fire, then immediately die. My guess is you hit so hard you jarred the connections to the pump loose, hopefully its just a loose wire.

Try jumpering the fuel pump test connector on the firewall with 12v. If the pump doesnt start running right away, leave the jumper on the connector and get a 2x4 and smack the tank a few times. If the pump runs after the 2x4 thump, its prolly a degraded connection, or a failing pump. If it runs as soon as you hook up the 12v to the test connector then you have other issues...

After examination it turns out that the ground wire for the pump was not connected to anything. This of course is after i look at the taillight ground wire (ASSuming it was the pumps) and then siphoning the tank, dropping it, plugging the pump in and the ground, whala it works.

So i'm thinking, retracing my steps to a whopping realization of "hey you never disconnected a ground wire". DOH! :roll: I look at the ground i thought was the pumps and sure enough it's the tailights'.

So here is my question, where does the fuel pump ground wire normally go? Not with the tailights in my case. I put her back together and she started right up. The ground must have come off when I hit the bump real hard.

I pulled the ECM B fuse to clear any codes and the phone rang. Get done with the call and go to start her up and nothing. I sit turn the key and no pump again. I plug 12v into the fuel pump test connector and the pump runs. I check the ground and it's there. Once again a Homer moment, I forgot to put the ECM B fuse back in. :evil:

Toke me about 20 minutes to have the fuel pump out with out having to draine the tank

Good idea. When I changed the pump in my old Syclone it would have saved me 2 hours. The 2 hours I waited for my friend to come help me lift the bed.
But if I remember correctly my friend Budeweiser was there to keep me company. ::brews::

Well on the Ty, you have to put the jackstand in the rear, between the rear cross member and tailgate :lol: :lol:

So where exactly do I put the jackstand on the frame for my Typhoon
