HID question

So Im fixing to install my first set of HID headlights ( yes I bought the proper ones n housings to be legal and not blind everyone on the road.)
So I started to assemble them tonight so I can get right to it first thing in the morning, I just have 1 question:
Instructions say they must be wired to the battery. While I'm usually a guy that just follows the instructions, my battery is remote located in the rear , I was wondering if I could just mount the + to the battery hot terminal on the firewall? It should give it the same amount of juice I would think.

Re: HID question

That should be fine, you need 30amp for initial start up , it's where it draws the most current.

Re: HID question

I will as soon as I can - my mother was going to watch my son today for me but she called me sick this morning. So I will not have time to get to it today , maybe tomorrow I will be able to.
I did get the clear corner and bumper lights in this morning while my son was still asleep. They look pretty good , fitment was crap and took some sanding n cutting to get it right.
Now to find some fog lights that aren't yellow and my front end will be coming together.

Re: HID question

Just to note, it is not "legal" in any sense to put HID's on a car that didn't have them originally.

Its also highly unlikely that ANY aftermarket light kit is going to approach the high quality beam pattern of an OEM projector.

Can it be good, and safe, yes. But it takes high quality parts and careful consideration. And in the end it still won't be legal.

Like snowman said, still not legal, but I'm also curious to see how they come out. Been interested in doing an hid setup myself.

Re: HID question

Weird , I thought if they were DOT approved they would be ok, guess after some further reading I was wrong

Re: HID question

I'm using oem projectors, ballasts and bulbs, all dot approved for their original application. Installed into an s10 makes it all illegal. It's as close to being legal as you can get. But I know that it's still illegal as all non oem offered HID's are, period.
Do you have a link to the lights you bought?

Because even all the parts are oem, but you're who make it fit to the car, not from factory, check the sylvania xenarc kit, if you use dot logo on something not legal you get in big problems
