I'm in Seminole, Pinellas County.

Good to know there are so many near by. I might need a pep talk soon when I start in on the motor mounts and then a front end rebuild shortly after that.

im going to take the opportunity here to mention....

We are coming up on our annual Miami Wrench Session.

Where: Gary Shanock's House, Miami
When: January 26-28th, 2007

Whats going on: This is the time and place to bring your truck to meet most of the FAST hardcores and to get some help wrenching on your truck. Along with wrenching we also take time to cruise to local car shows and of course going out to eat. We have anywhere between 15-30 trucks during the weekend with along with a variety of cars that typically stop by to say hi (vettes, camaros, bikes, classic muscle, etc). Late nights and fast driving are gauranteed.

I will be making a post soon on the FL list with Gary's address and nearby hotel. Gary typically offers up his house for anyone needing to crash if you want to bring your own air mattress/pillow.

Look for the post soon on the FL list. If your not on the FL list, you need to PM me with your email info.

Lakeland here. I dont have alot of spare time for late night outings between my job and my family, but I am available in Lakeland if anyone needs anything. An occasional meet would be cool. Plant city has a car show every third Saturday night where they close off the downtown area. Shops are open and there are some street vendors too. We could have a SyTy showing there every few months. Plant City is right on I-4, in eastern Hillsborogh county (Tampa). Last time I went most people didnt even know what my Ty was.

I've also got a pretty well equipped shop at my house if anyone needs help doing anything.

Re: Hey Tampa Bay- Check in-

For all of you Florida folks:

Chances are your home owners insurance premiums are going to be going up (if they haven't already), but you may be eligible for discounts based on a little known piece of Florida legislation:

"To receive discounts, insurance companies require documentation be completed by a design professional, building inspector or certified inspector who evaluates the home to determine the presence of wind resistant features. In addition to shutters and impact rated glass, discounts are offered for roof-to-wall connections, roof deck fastening, Florida Building Code equivalent roof covering and hip roof shape. "Discounts received in the first year often exceed the inspection fee and savings accrue each subsequent year of the policy," said York. "Homeowners should expect to pay about a $150 inspection fee for a home under 5,000 square feet."

Over 98 percent of homes inspected qualified for at least one discount and 60 percent qualified for three or more discounts. The available discounts range up to 42 percent of the hurricane wind portion of insurance premiums."

If you are fairly local to me (I think Clone94 is the only one), I can arrange for someone to check out your place. If you aren't local, I may be able to arrange something for you based on your location. This is something that may save you a couple hundred bucks a year depending on how old your house is and what your insurance company requires.

If you want more information or need help, drop me a line.

Re: Hey Tampa Bay- Check in-

Thanks for the info, a co-worker also mentioned that he was able to significantly drop his premium by requesting a higher hurricane deductible. I think he went with 5% instead of the standard 2%. Ask if that's an option for you.

Depending on your insurance company, what discounts you get will vary. Some of the things they may look for are type of roof, hurricane strapping on the roof trusses, hurricane clips on the roof plywood, rebar in the walls, etc. You may qualify for multiple discounts.

The other option is to either decrease your coverage or increase your premium. I would recommend you get an inspection before doing either one of those. Depending on how many items your home has, you can save a bundle on the premium instead of having to shell out more money.
