Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

Jesse the Truck did have the Trans Replaced. I bet your hunch is right probably through in a cheap s10 TC. Wasn't Me though :)

I know it wasn't you Neil, I searched the truck and seen prev owner before you rebuilt the trans but didn't say anything other then that. Got any tc laying around let me know

Re: help with the quest for 11's

so i decided to push the truck today and see what i can actually do.. i fixed a small leaky rear brake line which lead to the world of difference with launches.. i started easy on this first run with holding 8psi of boost, and got the tc to hold to 2750.. launch felt decent but i knew it had more.. also still no kr
http://www.mediafire.com/?8dugvs6e8xc5lkm

Next run i drove about 15 miles out to the longest stretch of road we got and ran it.. I really pushed the boost with this one.. got her to hold almost 13psi of boost at 3000rpm.. I let of brake and got some pretty good wheel hop which im guessing lead to the KR it picked up.. did whole run, boost stayed solid, so did a/f but now im having ia temp raising from 117 to 183 threw the run.. I got home and checked and the ic pump is still running and i can see what moving threw it. Am i finally pushing the limit of the stock cooling system which is killing my times?? my launch felt extremely good besides the wheel hop but topend just sucks.. and advice guys??

little bit off track but - i run the same fuel pressure as you(48)

have you dropped it to 43 or kept the same in your runs??

No, your not even close to maxing out a good stock ic setup......your not running more boost than stock right? If you want to go faster your gonna have to start spending $$. Alky injection is where i'd start, then start turning up the boost. Just fyi, the wheel hop may be do to the truck being so low and hitting the bumpstops in the rear.....

183 is way to hot for your boost levels and turbo. I wonder if you have some corrosion issues in your IC systems that is causing heat transfer issues.

I'm running a lot more boost then stock now with the bigger turbo. And I've spend a good amount of money already on this with what ive done. As for wheel hop I don't have bumps tops since the frame is notched and I know for a fact it's not hitting or even close to hitting frame.. Felt more like it squatted so hard that it caused the bouce, and yes I have limiters up front.

I haven't touched fuel pressure since the af is right where I was told it needs to be. Also the timing hasn't been touched once and it's still on factory setting

I had this problem before but the cooler was low and it got a lot of air in the system.. I filled it back up and spent at least a hour getting the air out and I didn't have a problem since.. The temps were staying around 140ish after a full run but it was also cooler out.. It's in the 80s today but I doubt it had that much effect on it.

How much boost are you running? I'm unable to open your file. Hope not too much more than stock without meth/alky. If your not hitting the bumps then the wheel hop is prob from spring wrap, some Caltracs or similar would help a lot, the 2.0 60' should be much better, bone stock Tys can do 1.8s That alone would put u at 13.5 or better.

Just fyi, timing can also be adjusted thru the chip....maybe it is still stock:dunno:

im at 18psi on a 54pte turbo w/ 60lbs injecters and supporting tt chip.. i know because i put it in lol

sayin my 60foot was 1.7
1/8 8.4 at 79.5
1/4 13.5 at 96
0-60 4.5sec

Re: Got wb finally, tuning issues

this thing is fighting me all the way lol..
just got back from strip, best i can turn was a 60" 2.0 and 1/4 13.7 at 97...
wb reading 10.8 down hole strip...

This is what I was going by...G-tech meters and the like are not the same as the track timing system....

What I meant was timing can be changed by the person that burned the chip. So are you sure it's the same as the stock prom?

Re: help with the quest for 11's

On it's default settings, that chip is around 14* at 14-15psi and higher boost.
You can try inching it up higher, monitoring for knock retard. You could also try leaning it out a little, again watching for knock.

now my question is, "should" i be running quicker then what it is with whats done?? im still wondering if there is something wrong that i cant find

weather cool down this evening.. down to 70 which is coolest its been in a while.. i have not touched the fuel pressure.. and now the trucks reading rich at wot and can feel the truck almost cutting out a slight bit. i might back off the pressure a bit

Re: help with the quest for 11's

I agree it should be faster.
It's still odd to me that you can run that much boost on 93 without knock, which leads me to believe you are not making the cylinder pressure you should be. Things that could affect that: timing is not what we think it is (balancer slipped), cylinder leakdown, cam timing is off, etc.

If it's rich up in boost, you can use the chip's adjustable parameters to tweak it. If you adjust fuel pressure, you will affect everything, which might hurt the low end (idle, tip-in, etc).
Another option, since you have a wideband connected, is to turn on the WOT closed loop feature by setting a target A/F in the chip parameter. Then it will always target that A/F (like an aftermarket ECM).

Re: help with the quest for 11's

i also run more boost than that (21.5) on 93 with almost 0 knock - aeroking has the logs
this was with f/p at 50 and a code 59 tune & 7th injector coming on at 12lbs of boost.- truck ran 13.0 w/stock injectors.

we now use the target a/f setting ( 11.5 i think)with turbo tweak chip and 42.5 injectors
im sure it has a lot more in it cause its on rich side.

I did check timing that one time in past and it was dead on.. I did a compression test and they were all around 120s if I remember right but I did not do a cylinder leakdown test.. And no idea in cam timing..

Hmm I might have to try that target a/f, I'll search threw my booklet on how to.. What should be a good start on target af?

I'm sure if I turn boost up to that level I can hit a 13 no prob.. I mean the truck feels strong in my opinion but obviously the numbers don't show that lol. As for the more in it part, you mean my truck or yours?
