Help w/ torsion bar ride height adjustment...

I thought for sure something would turn up searching for this topic but no such luck.

How the heck do you measure the ride height on the front of a Sy? I read the service manual which says to measure the Z height. This appears to be the distance between the lowest point on the steering knuckle and a straight line from the control arm bolt. The problem I'm having is that there is so much stuff in the way, including the wheel, I can't seem to measure anything.

Is there an alternate acceptable method anyone has used?

And here I thought this would be simple :)

The simplest thing you could do is measure from the ground to each wheel arch.

Set them both to a height you are happy with. Once you mess around with the adjustment you should get an alignment.

The "Z" height measurement is a royal PITA. You might want to measure from an even point in each frame rail also to double check too.

I like that idea. Any ideas as to the typical distance between the front bump-stop and the control arm? I only seem to have about 1/4". I don't know what that translates into as far as suspension travel, but it doesn't sound like a lot.

Thanks!
