So let's assume it cranks, but won't start...three things it could be. 1. Compression. Let's assume it has run in the recent future, and it has compression. 2. Fuel. What's the fuel pressure? 3. Spark. Is it getting spark?
Help us help you...

HAHAHAHAHA
Also, it could be 4. Timing. But thats only if its cranking. He said his dash was screwy, I would go with the bad ECM too. My TY was dying at random times, it would crank and crank and not start. Let it sit 5, 10,15, 45 minutes (it was always different), and it would start right up. One time it did it, I hit the ECM and it started. Turned out to be a crack or probably a cold solder joint.

As stated before: more info needed. Does it just "click" when you turn the key? If so, check the purple wire. Does it try to crank? Does it actually crank? Does it try to run, but only sputters?
