help me wire my tack for my ls1

I need to know what wire to connect my tach signal to. I am not using any part of the stock sy engine harness to i need to know what wire to use inside the truck. thanks

I don't think it will work. Just like the tach from the turbo Sunbird cluster won't work right cause it's setup for a 4 cylinder. I don't think our V6 tach will work with a V8.

you can change the signal coming from the ls1 ecm for any number of cylinders. in fact all ls motors run a 4 cylinder tach signal. its all in the tune.

You will prolly have to wire the signal through the DRAC somehow someway no exactly sure though

found the wire. its in the h position on the 10pin connector that goes to the ecm from the dash harness. i will hook it up tomorrow to see if it works.

the tach works. just got to have the emc changed for a 6 cylinder pulse

What color was that wire? I have none of my stock wiring left and am also trying to figure out where to give my stock tach a signal.

yes its white. here is where i spliced in for mine. it is spliced into the connector on the dash harness that plugs into the factory ecm.

Ok my Sy no longer uses factory ECU either with this carbed v8. This connector is under dash correct? behind glovebox? Now..is there a way for me to convert a typical v8 signal to a v6? Some sort of signal reducer possibly? Wonder if I could use some sort of adjustable signal control?

msd sells various tach adapters, you might able to pick something up that will convert the signal.

The connector you are looking for is under the dash on the passenger side. It will be up there where the ecm and drac would be right above the little interior light. You can see from my previous pic which wire it is.

Here is a convertor for the tach signal... Im sure it's not the only one available but it the first one i found with a quick google search.

Is there a reason why you did not just cut the cable and connected it straight to the new red wire?
I have a huge rat nest/ nightmare going on and just want to simplify things.
