ok, i have a crappy idle only when i first start the ty up in the mourning or when it cools down.
it idles like crap and it anlmost wants to stall out. but when i drive it and it warms up, i can stop at a light and its fine. sometimes i can notice, when it warmed up, when i take off at a light, it kinda misses a little bit, just for a split sec.
i already put msd wires on it. i didnt put plugs or cap an rotor. what kinda plugs do you all suggest. someone told me to get ngk ur6 plugs. what should i gap those at also?
any info would help ...thanks

Re: help..crappy idle

ok i got ngk ur5's. are they a colder plug? i gapped them at 0.35. the auto parts store said they were "stock plugs".

anyone have any tips on changing the ones on the turbo side? maybe a how-to-do?

also when i drove back frothe auto parts store i was running like crap. i got home popped the hood and i noticed the my intake to the turbo was off. could that be some of the reason for a crappy idle?....i imagin that could Be some of the problem

ur5s are slightly colder. gap them to .32, you need a wobble spark plug socket with extension, for passenger side plugs. no that won't really casue a crappy idele, if our trucks had MAF sensors then maybe it would. did you get a new cap and rotor?

Re: help..crappy idle

i jUst did the drivers side, right now. i bought a new rotor, but no cap. its a pita to change plugs. should i pull them out and regap them? its hard to put the plugs back in with the heat shield. they are allways in the way.
as for the wobble spark plug extension. i have a wobble. do they make a special wobble spark plug socket?

yeah, i got one from snap on, but i'm sure any other dealer like mac, matco etc... should have them.

Re: help..crappy idle

idle air control valve, just replace it. its under the TB, you will need a 32mm wrench to break it free. there is a way to make the ecm learn the correct position for idle, search for IAC

This is what I use:

"Craftsman #43322 ($9.99) 5/8" swivel spark plug socket in action on plug #3."

Jack the front of the truck up and and go through the wheel wells when doing the plugs. Makes it much easier to do.

If you are going to take the time to replace the rotor, you might as well replace the cap as well. When you bought your plug wires, you didn't only buy three did you ;) ? The rotor can be a royal PITA to remove. If you have your center cap key, it is the perfect tool for removing it.

Definately check out that IAC and the condition of your vacuum lines as well.
