Heater Core Removal

e.i.
What kinda work am i lookin at to replace the heater core??

complete dash removal?? can i get it from the kick panel? is it under the cab??

I suspect mine is leaking, right now its empty with the lines disconnected, but i dont wanna flood the carpet by test filling it with water. I'm gonna have the truck apart over the winter anyways, so might as well replace it.

Man does it ever suck!

I was told that I would have to remove the dash, but I got away with just taking out most of the screws on the pass side and pulled it out the bottom while a buddy reached over the top of me and pulled the dashboard away from the firewall.

It sucks

You can do it easy on the pass side of the truck after you remove the lower trim panel that goes across the bottom from left to right and the kick panel at the pass feet area. If you need more information let me know. Its about a 4 hour job including the time to go and get a new core.

Re: Heater Core Removal

how did you disconnect the lines? That seems to be a decent temporary fix untill one has time, money, and tools to do the job. Guess that would be me. ;)

Run a section of hose from the intake manifold to the rad header or down to the heater outlet tube that is bolted to the batt tray.

My plastic cover that is over the heater core is all broken ... Didn't know until I went to replace my heater core . Is this plastic piece hard to find? Is it found on other vehicles?

To get to the connections in the engine Bay Area, make your life happy by removing the fender well. It's about 8 13mm bolts, this will give you full access to to it and it's MUCH easier to do.
