Re: Heat sink fluid cooler

I was thinking about running one of those awhile back for the power steering.

Re: Heat sink fluid cooler

i thought Marty had one of these on the Syborg?

Renz showed these from CoolCraft in a previous post and mentioned that Marty did use them on Syborg.

Whatever, I just think that if you look at a 3/8 npt fitting that's not a very big hole. To me that's a big restriction to flow. Just my :2cents:

Your probably right Don cause my oil adapter from Lingenfelter has -10AN fittings for the cooler.

Re: Heat sink fluid cooler

You need at least 1/2" pipe or 3/4" would be better. -10 is 5/8"

What size are the stock syty oil cooler lines?? they look pretty small.

I think I should order one of these for the SS tranny and see how much it drops or maintains the fluid temps. Apparently SS trannys have a problem getn warm with a stall. The tranny is stock now but plan on adding a small stall (2800) to compliment the cam.

Does your "project" prevent you from using the stock engine oil cooler? If not just go with that. Or as some have done eliminate engine oil cooling altogether. Otherwise I'm not sure if the gain is worth the trouble. Trans oil yes, engine oil not so much. You want the engine oil to be hot. See this for a brief explanation:

INHO It's easier to overheat the trans because of the TC than the engine. I'm guessing, but even in drag racing the engine is not under full throttle for a long enough time to overheat the engine oil.

All my :2cents: as usual.

I agree with you Don on the oil temp needing to be around 180*...I plan on using a thermostat for it...this is for the TT setup. Im running a custom radiator without the built in oil cooler.
