I want ot change my heads I am really short on time. This my daily driver and I dont have time for a machine shop again. Do I have to have heads from a sy/ty or can I just use 92 4.3 heads? Its a 92 ty. I think I bent a valve I keep bending a pushrod in the same cylinder and I already changed all the lifters.still missing with valve train noise.so Im going to change the heads . then have the other ones built right. TIA

They are just stock 4.3 LB4 heads. If you want something to bolt on have better performance try to finding a set of L35 heads used in late 93 to 95. They will bolt riht up and flow a little better. A used set at a junkyard should be around $100, not much more than a set of earlier 4.3 LB4 heads.

have you tried using a better pushrod? what cam is this on? stock? if so then you arent adjusting them correctly or something... stock motors dont just bend pushrods...you might have a weak spring too.

well I have the 422 comp cam. Im .030 over. total seal rings trw forged pistons, 4bolt mains it ran for 5000 miles before I blew the head gaskets and after I changed them I put the head back on and went balistic and put a t-72 turbo kit from Mike Lee and a2a. ran great for 2 weeks but i never tuned the damn thing.   well there was a chick in an SER Sentra and she took off on me so I said what the hell. Well after that race which i won the truck started to run bad then I heard a horible noise and the truck barely drove almost had to floor it to get home and was going very slow. well anyways after a little trouble shooting I found 2 bent pushrods on my #3 Cylinder so I changed them still missing bad went for a drive and came back home and it was running worse and guess what 2 more bent rods.SO I go and change all the lifters and saw that some where rock hard no movement . well i get the truck running took about 3 hours quick job. and i get her running and still missing so Im thinking some how I bent a valve. But I am out of CASH!!! soI just want to get some heads and change the Springs that I have on my heads not from the high lift cam and get my truck running again.I know how to adjust the valves so I know it not me and when I run the truck with the valve cover off the valve seems to move ok. So Im stumped  what sucks is that I just put a new set felpro hi performance gaskets. dont even have 50 miles on them.well any help will be appriciated TIA

you have to upgrade to 1 piece pushrods once you upgrade the cam and springs. I've broken bent more pushrods and lifters then anybody.

felpro does not make headgaskets for our trucks. call them and they will tell you the same thing. I killed about 6 of them before I figured it out.

I was told by a few people that they use the felpro 1030 head gaskets. they fit perfectly for me and had no problems. so you dont think i bent a valve?

you could have bent a valve. do a leakdown test to confirm. I had nothing but problems with felpro. then one day I decied to call their tech line, spoke with a very knowledgeable guy said and backed up the claim he knew what a syty was, then proceded to tell me that even their 4.3 race gasket was not strong enough to use on a stock syty (their was even a note in their computer not for use on gmc syclone or typhoon). so. ever since I have either used copper with oring, cometic or stock victor gaskets. never had a problem since.

Found a Bent exhaust valve on cylinder #3. it touched the piston but looks like a light touch. :x but still hit a piston. Now I have poured every buck I had into this truck and I have no more. So I looked at the piston and its not cracked so thats good I guess. Can I just take the head to the shop have them but a new guide,Valve and 3 angle job on that ONE valve and be happy???? or since it hit the piston im screwd!! please please please any help TIA

ya you can have the head fixed and your probably ok with the piston as it's about 2000x times stronger than that puny valve. but you need to find out why they hit. have you checked your piston to valve clearance? were the heads surfaced? block decked? huge cam?

all 3 were done to the engine. I just orderd stock lenth1piece pushrods also. BUT I think it was the bad lifters that caused me to bend the valve. I was being an idiot and racing a sentra SER. Everything started happening after that.Like I said I drove the truck for over 4000 miles and even a few runs at the track and a 800 mile trip. So I am glad to hear that I dont have to tear down the engine cause I would have to sell her.
