Hard to get 245/50/16

It's quite hard to get 245/50/16 right now, the two candidates are Kuhmo Ecsta and the Cooper 2XS. Kuhmos have long delivery time on (+1 month). 255/50/16 is never heard off back here. "Special order" on tires are enourmous expensive.

But 245/45/16 are quite easy to get.

These are the tires I look at

Is there some of you that have 245/45/16 on their trucks?

With the 45 profile tire its gone be 1inch smaller, look awful?

When I bought my truck, it had 245/45-16 Goodyear Gatorbacks on it. Didn't think much of it until I changed out tires for the correct 245/50-16's. Comparing the two, the 45 series tires looked a little goofy on there, plus the speedo was always fast.... and therefore racking up more miles than actual.

Why is it so hard to get the 245/50's?? VERY common tire size. Got the Kuhmo Ecsta 711's on both the Sy and my Camaro. Last summer they were $50 per tire from the Tire Rack, so I got 2 sets. Pretty nice tire for the $$
Can't say enough good things about the Tire Rack. I won't buy elsewhere unless I absolutely have to.

I SO want 17" wheels though. The General UHP tire looks sweet, is cheap and gets rave reviews..... too bad they don't make it in my size :rant:

255/50R-16's are gonna be hard to get a hold of, because almost no vehicals ever came with that size, so no one's gonna carry them.

I agree with Tophatjimmy, 245/45R-16's will look wrong and if I didn't get a pretty deal on tires here, I would definitely use Tirerack.com and have someone else put them on. Be prepaired to pay a lot for the install though, some places like to bend you over for not buying their tires.

Yes Tirerack have a good selection but it's a no no for shipping to Sweden.

Why won't they ship to Sweden? On the other hand isn't there a tire place in England/Germany ,they should have performance places that might be able to help you out.

I had 255/50/16's and I loved them. They were comfy, handled well, were fair priced($430 out the door), did awsome in weather, hooked up great. Ild get em if ya could. I had Mirada somethign or other, they were kind of generic but last and performed great.

Yes shippment are possible, Checked with summit for some refference, $248 for 4 tires.
But you have to pay extra enviroment toll (above the tax+customs) for bringing tires into Sweden.

Most web-based tire shops have the same selection and sometimes they just are the same company in diffrent countries.

I actully found four Yokohama 255/50/16 on a site but after some research I found out that they were made specific for SEARS. Anyhow I've read some hated them and some others put their best 60 times ever on them...

anyone know anything about these. Have not been able to find any pic of them either.

Thanks, same as www.dackonline.se The Kuhmo's 245/50/16 you can order them but they have no idea WHEN or IF they gone get them thou when you speak to them on the phone.

After my vacation I going to order the MAXXIS 235/50/16 at the local tire shop www.nordendack.se (they can get cooper 245/50/16 but once try cooper tires, never again cooper tires)

Digging instead of starting new thread

Got a good offer at buying a set of 255/50/16 Toyo Proxes R888's
its a alittle bigger in diameter, 1/3" to 1/2" but I dont mind that, but what concerns me is if they are the right type of tire for our trucks. These are tires made for cornering, we just goes from redligt to redlight with our trucks . They wear down pretty fast but I've read its not that bad if you dont heat them up to bad (track time). Rain seems to be ok if you keep if under 60mph.

Anyone that got those tires on their truck or got any other experience of them?
