Hard Shift from 1st to 2nd & shuddering

I recently bought my second syclone. the transmission shifts very hard from 1st to 2nd under normal driving conditions. When you punch it from a slow roll (5mph) and let it run through 2nd it still shifts hard. I launched it after this and it spudders when it goes to shift from 1st into 2nd.. almost like its bogging or slipping(very weird). Also the rear tires were slightly starting to spin at around 2-3lbs of boost (which my other does not do) Would this be time for a tranny rebuild? I just want the truck in top running condition. I plan to keep it as stock as possible.
Can someone tell me whats going on? any advice would be great!

Pretty much all SY/TY shifts hard from 1st to 2nd. I'm not sure about the shuddering thing though. Torque converter? Your rear tires spin around 2-3psi. Seems kind of low boost to start spinning them, but some trucks do. You need to upgrade to some bigger brake cylinders in the rear to hold them at more psi so you can launch harder.

if the rear tires are spinning I dont think your slipping anything in the trans. dont worry about the shifts unless you get a neck injury. they shift pretty hard. if your really worried about it make sure the TV cable is adjusted properly.

The hard shift doesnt bother me to much.. infact i like it.. however my other sy does not do it (atleast this hard)... My main concern was the spinning rear tires at low boost and the shuttering from 1st and 2nd that occured after a launch into WOT. It was almost like it didnt want to go into 2nd when floored. however... took it back out a few minutes ago launched it twice and it didnt spudder, however it did still spin at low boost.. i know the truck sat for a long time without being driven before i bought it so maybe that has something to do with it.

There is something not quite right between 1st & 2nd... i just cant put my finger on it.. Any other ideas?

Try changing the fluid and filter ( if not done recently ) mine shifted extremly hard when I bought it and I changed the tranny and T-case fluid and it got way better. Not to mention the fluid looked like it had never been changed and came out in a blackish brown sludge, YIKES!!!!!

adjusting the TV cable scares me... i honestly wouldnt even know where to begin.... any ideas? how would i know when i had it adjusted correctly? it is something that i have no experience in

well.. that gives me a better understanding of the TV cable...

I just went out and drove it some more and the more i drive it the more it sounds like it could be the TV cable.. The sputtering sounds alot like what that guy explained in the top of 1st gear.. however the only differance is i can floor it from 5mph and it takes off and goes through the gears just fine.. its only when i launch it from a complete stop does it have this problem with the sputtering(slipping, bogging whatever you want to call it).

So do i need a new TV cable or what? I noticed this George guy is located in Ohio maybe he isnt to far away from me? should i contact him as he seems to know what hes doing and talking about.

spinning the rears is common on these trucks. adjust your rear shoes and or replace them with larger ones. spuddering sounds like an eng/tune problem not the trans.

I agree with, John Waller. The stuttering is probably ignition or overboost.

Your first Syclone may have had an incorrect replacement transmission.

i would start with a fuel filter and basic tune up, does it do it with a full tank of gas or under 1/2 near 1/4 tank?

It has a full tank.. so its not fuel sloshing costing it to stall (i had this happen in my first GN, and i nearly crapped myself)

It had crossed my mind that it wasnt anything to do with the trans/tv cable.. which would be a blessing... but has had a recent tune-up with all the correct parts, as well as a MSD ignition installed. I really believe this has something to do with the drivetrain, just because at WOT from a 5mph roll it takes off just fine, but from a boosted launch it falls on its face and sputters and shudders for half a second. I am going to try go get a few other opinions from some local friends as well as contact this George guy and see what can advise.

How is your boost control? I have seen the boosted launches hit over boost, but rolls on have no porblem.

the check engine flashing sounds like either a misfire or wastegate overboosting

Hrmm.....well the truck is stock from what i can tell no chip, no nothing, with the exception of MSD ignition and new exhaust. not even a K&N in the stock box.
How would i go about tooling with the boost? since its stock

the check engine light doesnt flash, nothing of the sort.? It just falls flat on its face in 1st gear after a boosted launch. no check engine light or anything.
