Anybody ever put in a higher wattage H3 bulb than the stock 55's? Any probs such as heat buildup, etc..

I saw 100's at the auto store, but thought I'd ask for some opinions first.

i tried some 130 watters once. by the time i got home, 12 miles they were gone. I think i tried 100's to. same thing. I came to the conclusion to use the higher watt bulbs you need a larger, much larger housing to cool the bulb.

I can tell you this. loved those 130 watters, it was like daytime driving home. And no one blinked at me cuz it was all down low.
go for it!

I have been running 100W H3s in the fog lamps for 4 years now. Had problems early on with the stock lamp design.....lens would get scorching hot and when you'd hit a puddle or go thru rain with 'em on, it'd crack the lens. Never had a bulb die....just cracked lens' left and right. So, some time ago I swapped the reflective housing in the lamps with ones out of the Blazer lights and have had NO problems since. Dunno what made the difference, but it works. FWIW, they are quite bright....not the yellow glow of stockers.

Aim the fogs up in people's eyes so that when you switch off the high beams, there's still a bright beam right in their eyes. :D - Not the same impact as Dubb's hella-bright lights, but they'll still be like "WTF?". Not that I do that kinda crap or anything.......

I've had the 100's in my typhoon for years without any problems. My syclone still has the original bulbs.
