grunting sound ?

everytime i hit the brakes i hear a grunting sound coming from under the dash somewhere, does anyone know what the noise could be?

It's the abs actuating itself upon startup ill bet mine also does it! Need to get rid of that silly abs !

Possible a small animal is pinched between your pedal and the firewall and subsequently in pain every time you engage the brakes.....better check so it doesn't begin to stink soon .

It's the check valve on the hose from the intake to the brake booster.

x2. You can't really see it in this photo, but it's the round plastic valve that the hose at bottom left leads in to. Easy fix, about $12.

I bought a cheap universal one, and it wasn't the right size to match the hose.
