im definently aint no mechanic... but if you need a front differential a differential out of a blazer or AWD Astro/Safari will work in your Ty, just make sure it has 3.42 gears.

Well I guess it would help if you gave us some info as to why you replaced the axle and what it is doing now.

Do you have SyTy service manuals?

It's not brain surgery just relax and take a breather then do step by step troubleshooting.

couple of things off the top of my head to get this started.

does it always stop in the same place? like, if you put it in d, drive forward till it stops. Then reverse and drive forward again is it in the same location?

my thinking here is whatevers causing it is directly connected to the wheels if it does this.

how about, raising the front of the truck and spinning the front wheels(donno if this requires removing the propshaft to spin the tires)?

see if you can isolate the problem down to its source.

from the sounds of it, im thinking that your looking at that front diff, but Id definatly try and track it down. Maybe if you have it up you can hear it clunking or something, give you an idea on whats to blame.

we jacked it up and the wheel just free spins in the air and makes NO noise, and no the clunkin dont happen at the same place everytime. when ithought it was the driver axelshaft it only made clunkin noise and locked up on the drivers side, now that i replaced it it locks up and makes noise on the passenger side.. i dont wanna waste money replacin the passenger side axel if thats not what it is, cause as i said we have it in the air and can spin the passenger tire and the axelshaft makes no noise.

Spring is just around the corner.
Go to the junkyard and pick up a rear driveshaft out of a 2wd s-10.

Remove the transfer case and front driveshaft/propshaft.

When the funds become available have the transfer case replaced.

Good luck.

cheaper and easier just to get a transfer case...i just sold one on ebay for 200 bux...they go for around 400 normally...he would need alot more than a rwd driveshaft to be rwd...like a custom trans crossmember and a rwd transmission...fwd and rwd trannies are different ...

so then i shuld not spend $1,000 on a xfer case, because i have been looking around the internet and 1k is the price i could find for a xfer case. also is thier any instructions on how to put it in and what else i would need such as gaskets ect.. cause i wanna get this done while i have the funds avail.

thanks for all your help guys :)

its fairly strait forward as far as installation.

pull off the rear driveshaft by disconnecting the rear joint, and pulling the shaft out of the xfer case. Theres a bracket that bolts from the xfer to the trans along the propshaft side of the trans. Remove the bolts from there, and the ones that hold the xfer to the trans. Theres a vss conector there i believe as well. Then just slide off and throw.

There is a xfer-> trans gasket, get it from the dealer at ~ $5. Install and fill the new xfer with trans fluid.

Just take the propshaft out for now, and drive it in rear wheel drive. I hear these trucks do sick burnouts, just as Myclone.

but sence i have the hole in the xfer case wont it bind up??

yes...i wouldn't advise driving it with a hole in the transfer case...you need to get a hold of another one...charles blossom bought mine as a spare...IIRC he said he had a couple of spares...you might run a search on him and drop him an email...or put up a WTB ad in parts wanted...you'd be suprised how many are out there...
