race or get outta the way
Where to begin… only 1 run last night due to rain.
There is a lot left in this as you will see reading on.
For instance this launch was at only 2650 on the rev limiter.
Although boost at launch was 15psi, there is absolutely no tire spin.
Boost on msbc was also set low at only 20. Boost is rock solid.
Raising rpm at launch as well as boost should bring the 60 foot down from the 1.707
I saw last night. Last weeks 60ft was 1.708 so the launch is showing very consistent. I.e. no tire spin.
Obviously the launch has to be turned up to find that point where the tires will break loose and then back it down just a bit for the maximum best launch. Oh and this is not on drag radials.
The tune is almost there but a little rich on the top end.
So what did it run
Temp 56
Relative humidity 71
Absolute baro 28.94
60ft 1.707
330 4.727
1/8 7.300
mph 1/8 94.79
990 9.485
¼ 11.470
mph 116.92
so lets see lower the 60ft to 1.5xx 2 10th savings
loose the 100lb tonneau 1 10th savings
get the richness out of the top end 1 10th savings
looks like a high 10 or at least a low 11 to get me into the top 10 on
hurydes website at the end of all this.
So there ya go.
Hopefully it was worth the wait to all of you.
What happened last week.
I will give you hint, sometimes a variation in your build from the std recipe you read about here
Requires you to think outside the box.
The variation being my recent head work (receiver grooves & flow work) changed my cylinder pressures
From an extremely high 170psi cold to 180psi cold.
Result tr5 and or tr6 plugs don’t work well with higher boost levels.
The other thing is that so often you read here that stock ignition is all you need on these trucks.
Don’t believe it for a minute. Msd box keeps the fire lite a whole lot better.
And you can also forget that crap about .035 plug gaps.
So anyone else running 11.4 while launching at 2650 rpm ?
Guess I can toot my own horn on that note!
