Why do you feel it's a waste of time????
The Buick engine is better and stronger than the 4.3 anyway!
It was originally intended for the Syclone to have the Buick engine but the pricks at GM wouldn't allow it.
I've got pics of the "original concept" from the Buick Nats i'll have posted on my new web-site when completed.

what makes that engine stronger??? just wondering. anyone have the info about the stronger points of why it is such?
It's a motor with lots of R&D into the turbo side. VERY strong rods, VERY strong pistons, strong bottom end from the factory. Guys have gone 9s on the stock pistons & rods. Guys have gone 10s on the stock bottom end. Rebuild it with a girdle on the bottom end, it'll stand 700hp or so.
I think the 4.3's are getting there though, and people aren't giving them the respect they deserve. I can rebuild a 4.3 with Eagle rods, 4 bolt mains & TRW pistons pretty damn cheap... and those motors are standing up to a LOT of horsepower as well. McCoy's in the 9s with a combo & weight comparable to a Buick... and his complete combination wasn't even dialed in 100%. There were many changes he was still making, and all done on a motor that is 2 years old...
I've never heard of a Syty wiping a cam; it's hard to find a Buick engine builder who hasn't wiped a cam. Syty engines don't have the oiling problems a Buick does.
Oil leaks? TRY and find me a Buick rear main seal that DOESN'T leak.
You won't have a shortage of 4.3 parts anytime soon either :wink:
So yes, the Buick motor is DAMN stout, but it's human; and the 4.3 isn't as crappy a motor as everyone will have you believe. Every serious Buick racer has gone thru their motor... so what if you NEED to go thru a Syty motor to make it worthwhile then?
