Sounds good Adam......I just hope you're all still here after this weather.

Anywho....plan (in my head) is for us all to stay @ one hotel (Nats style) and sort-of do things as a group. Of course, I don't want anyone to feel obligated, tied-down, or commited to doing anything either. Come and go as you please and enjoy as much of my area as you can. All I really care about is seeing a lot of people and doing some racing (and eating).

With that said, I will have a list of things that will be available for us all to do during the days/nights. I'll list a few below (in no real order):

- The Ghost Tour - Savannah is ranked as a one of the most haunted cities in the United States. There is a carriage ride tour (space limited) and a walking tour. I know the people that own the carriage tour, so that'll be easy for us to do.

- Savannah Smiles - A period based saloon (home of the dueling pianos). Lots of performing arts from the '50's through today.

- Old Savannah Tours and Trolley Tours - Take a tour to see historic Savannah. Good for those who are new to the area.

- Tybee Island - It'll be November, but if anyone wants to check out the coast, that's not a problem.

Of course, these are just a FEW of the things to do around Savannah other than the track and eating. We'll just hafta decide what all to do when we get here.

Also, the track (1/8th mile) is open on Friday night (7pm till 3am) and Saturday evening (3pm till 10pm IIRC). Fridays are test/tune or Import vs Domestic night and Saturday is usually a few hrs of test/tune and then bracket racing/grudge matches (lots of mid/high 5 second cars out there). We may even see Jack Barfield's '69 Camaro (current Outlaw 10.5 record holder - 4.619 @ 154). Who knows.....

So, it's getting closer and I'm starting to get in the fine details. I'll be sure to keep you guys abreast of what's gonna happen as I know more.

Adam, gimme a holler and I'll go over everything with you (hotel info, etc...).

Still possibles:

Very cool. Shaping up to be a good meet (15-20 attendees). I'm gonna work on a good hotel rate for us this week. Should have something nailed down soon. Also, gonna talk to the track to ensure that they are indeed open that wk-end (assuming clear weather).

Off time will consist of lotsa talking and tuning. I'll have all my tools handy and we'll have trailers handy......so none of you have an excuse not to beat the piss outta yer truck, cause I'll personally trailer your ride back to wherever. :D

Adam.....the possibles NEED to come. How awesome would it be to see Chris again! Even if just for the nostalgia! Jordan, Ian, Keith......all guys I'd love to see again. Would you FAST guys be coming up on Friday afternoon/night most likely? GA guys too?

BTW, I'm gonna need a DEFINITIVE list of attendees by the end of this month. So, if you already KNOW that you can attend (barring some unforseen emergency), please reply telling me so. Couple of off-list members that I'll get an answer from.

Can't wait.....

I'm a definite; Mona says she'll come along only if other wives/girlfriends/rent-a-dates are going.

Appreciate the offer for trailering services - AAA probably wouldn't respond to a call from the track. Speaking of which - Are there any special requirements for racing (helmet, etc)?

Jimmy, Rob.....good to hear.

To answer your question, no. No special requirements for racing. Racing is $15 for car/driver and $7 for spectators (Fridays are usually ladies-free-night). No helmet required, no tech, no hassle. Just bring a valid DL, SS #, and fill out the info card and take it to the top of the tower and sign in. Those with numbers specify @ the gate (me and Scott only I imagine), and all others will be given numbers @ the gate (need to ask for one). I'll probably drive in first, park, and help get us all through as I know the gate-man pretty well. Should be painless.

One other note on racing in Savannah (and I'll speak more on stuff like this when we get here), go all the way to the end of the track and then hit the return lane. All other entrances (3 total IIRC) to the return lane have deep holes and asphalt breaks in them. The long one is the least used as it's used by guys going fast or with crappy brakes. Nonetheless, it'll save your back and possibly a wheel to go to the end. Again, I'll clue you all into some little tips to help out in Savannah when we meet.

Also, I'm sure other women will be here. Joey's bringing his woman, Scott's will be here also, and mine may be as well (she's in Veterinary school in Athens). I'm sure others will bring companions also.

Streetracing.....non-existent on Friday night (everybody's at the track). Saturday night....prolly kick up some races. Unfotunately, Savannah is cracking down on "cruising" (passing same spot repeatedly in a short time frame). We'll just have to play it by ear. I'm sure I can invite some buddys out to a deserted country road for some racing (just for fun).

Jeff.....glad to hear that you may be in attendance. Can't wait to see everyone.

Since when does Savannah take after SoCal, LA?

wonder how my "exhaust" will do....

Woodward, man! They ruined it for all of us. Your exhaust will do fine. I actually caught more hell when I had stockish exhaust, cause the "whoosh" sounded like tire spin to cops. They'd stop me, I'd explain the AWD, they'd scratch their head, and finally let me go. Loud exhaust is fine.....guess they figured there's no stopping all the glasspacking F150s, Rams, and Silverados in the low country.....so they gave up.

Darriel is in too. Probably in his Ty, says it's more comfortable for long drives than the Sy. Duh. Just got his updated contact info, new phone numbers. Says he tried to reach Ian and Keith but never heard back. I'm planning to get to Doug's in Melbourne Thursday night, then be out of there early Friday which puts us in Savannah early-mid afternoon.

Would love to make a GAST meet but the TY is not in the best of shape these days. Wife became ill about two years ago and we just got her fixed.
So the TY has been through hell . Most days im ashamed to call myself a Typhoon owner . But I plan on putting the ty back in shape this winter.
Shes gonna need 1000.00 to 1500.00 in her soon (thats what i tell the wife anyways (wink wink) .Atlanta roads have not been kind to the ty.
But if you guys make it up in the Atlanta area I still work at the Pink pony
when im not in a recording studio. Later guys . Oh ya Mr Hood how have you been ?

Gary.....I'll be picking up Potter/Bdubb @ the airport around 4pm, so that'll work out nicely. I'll post some contact info here soon that way you guys can reach me when you are getting close.

Gene.......wish you could make it man. Haven't seen you since the dyno meet in......er.......'99. Wow.....Has it been that long? We'll definitely do something next year that you can make it to. Sometime in the Spring, I'm sure. I'll be in touch.

Adam......what broke? Hate to hear this. Hope you get it back together in time so that we can do some more tuning on it. I have some good roads picked out for an afternoons worth of WOT blasts. :D

I'm gonna personally go to the track next week and do some retuning (A LOT has changed on my truck), then hopefully dial it in closer to the meet. Prolly gonna be well off my best ET, but should still be fun/reliable/fairly quick. I'm just crossing my fingers that nothing breaks on me. :-?

ever seen a water pump pulley come off at 110mph racing a WRX?

radiator is smashed, crankshaft pulley got bent, water pump pulley is obviously gone... along with pump, both fan shrouds are dead.... fan is bent and the power steering pump just barely got nicked and slightly bent the outside ridge...pair of pliers can fix it.

basically, at 110mph side by side with the WRX, i heard a pop and smoke started to pour out of the cowl and rolling out behind the truck. nice coolant smell, so i though for sure i blew a head gasket.

put it in nuetral and shut off the motor and rolled to a stop from 90mph.

popped the hood expecting to see my valve cover stuck to the top of my hood.... coolant had exploded everywhere....then i looked down to the the hole in my fan shroud and my fan stuck in the rad.

had my small set of emergency tools in the truck, so i yanked the shroud off and got the fan/clutch/belt out while i waited for the flat bed.

unloaded in front of my house... started it up and drove it up into the garage.

i dont think i did any damage to the motor.... it sounded OK at idle pulling the truck in, but didnt leave it running obviously.

guess i'll find out when everything is fixed.

already got most of the replacement parts, so i think i might be good to go with the sy to savannah.

i'll get pics up later of the damage.

the carnage:

http://sytyarchives.com/gallery/fanexplode

I think i got really lucky in that I did have the a2a. Since there was little clearance between the clutch and radiator, once the pulley broke off, there was no where for the fan to really fly except into the radiator.

no serious damage...easy stuff to replace, just a big hassle.
