Gas Mileage?

seriously, my truck running the T1 setting on Ultimate V7 chip (slightly more agressive than stock timing) and basically nothing else except basic safety mods, I get get roughly 12-14 driving around town here. This is "normal" driving, just getting into boost everyone in a while.

What you can expect is roughly that, maybe up to 16-18 highway. They do get higher, but Morgan's is just a freak of nature   Granted that may not be as nice as some other cars you are looking at, but they can't toast most cars on the street and still pull those numbers either.

I don't know you or your situation, but these trucks as daily drivers just don't work out well. Most everyone who is daily driving has a backup vehicle for when (not if) they break. You have to consider the maintenance and not just gas and such. No offense, I know this is not what you want to hear, but maybe wait until these things aren't an issue to you anymore. It took me a while of looking and hoping before I finally got in that situation as well.

Ultimately the decision is up to you and it's your money/life. If you do purchase, hang around the boards, take the newb abuse, and most will help with getting it lined out and running well. Good cummunity that has it's issues but for the most part we welcome new guys, don't be scared away by some of the other posts you might see.

Have you found any Ty's you are interested in? Cause we are almost everywhere and most will go look at one for you if it's to far away for you or go with you to look if it's nearby. Always better to have an "experienced" set of eyes looking at these on purchase day

Then again yours is modified and highly tuned for a 1/4 mile run.
Are you injectors stock?

My interest (for the near future, not long term) is in the ability of a really nice looking suv that can waste pretty much anything of the line (STOCK). Yet it still has room to fit stuff in the back. If trans am's had more room I'd prolly be looking into those right now.

my injectors are 50#, the motor was redone with a 412 cam.
But tuned? I wouldnt say its been tuned. escpecially since i have yet to look at the plugs....

as for reliablitlity, This is one of the most reliable vehicles i ever had.

but you have to understand i am the origianal owner and I allways stay on top of everything.

With lack of maintenance anything becomes a money pit.

with 10 lb boosted launches, street racing constantly, going to the track as mcuh as possible, etc etc etc............anything becomes a money pit.

Not to argue ed but you have put a lot of money into your truck including motor and tranny and whatnot and have broke several things in the process. I'm talking reliability of a pretty much stock truck taking a beating on the street, which everyone does even if they say they aren't going to when they buy. I'd be willing to bet that your truck wouldn't be nearly as reliabale if you were taking it to the track as often as you were in stock form

Don't get me worng, my truck had been good to me, never left me standed (knock on wood) and goes pretty fast. But lets call a spade a spade, and say these are meant more for toys than daily drivers.

Just out of curiosity, how many people out there have there SyTy as their only vehicle???? Don't think we've ever gotten that number before

My truck gets driven regularly, almost everyday, but there is no way I would rely on it to be my only means of getting to/from work :-?

yeah i hear you.

Over the course of 13 years owning this i have put a lot into it.

but with my own labor it was a lot cheaper than had i done like most people and bought a new car every 3-4 years. add that cost up!

As for breakin things racing.

Ok so i broke my trans. My didficulty there was the 3 stooges tranny shop.
Not the normal kind of problem one would encounter caused by the design of the truck.

As for a long term fix for the trans :)

More on this later

See, my car right now has become that kind of burden. My family happens to own alot of cars so I'm driving my dad's van right now. I'll probably turbo the car I got and keep it for awhile, then sell it. If I get a ty before I sell it, well then I'll have a backup. The reason I was atracted to typhoons also because I see alot of typhoons with over 100,000 miles (which means they have the potential to be durable.

hell man, a lot of SyTy's are over 100k. Wouldn't call them reliable, lot of parts and labor went into getting them there. If you truly know your way around cars and know how to take care of them; i.e. beating on them only when appropriate, regular service, and most importantly realizing the limitations of certain areas of these trucks, then they will last. Some people just buy and immediately start trying to go fast instead of doing it the right way, just trying to make sure you don't waste any money. You'd be amazed at how many people buy these on a whim then we see them for sale within a year or two because they are more than what they bargained for. If you expect to just bolt on stuff and go fast, buy a mustang.....er, no wait, they're not fast even with bolt on's

just had to get a mustang jab in there

Another really important thing is you must have time to work on these trucks. It is very hard sometimes to find a mechanic that you can trust to work on these trucks. We've all heard alot of horror stories of people taking there trucks to the shop. So we all do most of the work ourselves. These vehicles are at least 10 years old and lots of little stuff really adds up quick. It is kinda never ending. We're not trying to talk you out of buying a ty but just trying to make sure you don't make the same mistakes alot of others made.
Good luck!

Yeah I do all my work myself too. Appreciate the concern also.

The last time we took one of my family's vehicle to the dealership was in 1994. My dad got Impala SS #41 when they first were released. Just as we were leaving after dropping it off we were lucky enough to see our vehicle in the rear view mirror burning out and fish tailing into the back lot. My dad went frickin nuts.
