funny thing about ebay ads...

ever notice how the description changes on many of the reposted ads. Usually "details" seem to be left out and I often wonder if the seller would mention them if you inquired about the truck. The latest that comes to mind is a current repost on ebay. Originally it came with a extra set of "new" cladding and the motor was reported to be rebuilt under factory warranty. None of this is mentioned in the new add :squint: . Not that it's my buisness or that I'm even looking for a truck(anymore, thanks Pedro  ) but my "flag" would go up if I was following a particular truck. Sorry for the "thinking out loud"

:myclone: Befor I bought My Ty, I went through a few "ads". It does seem to happen alot whether intentional or not. When I would call to inquire, you could tell that the owner was beating around the bush and not being totally honest. Just my :2cents:

I know what you mean, i bought my truck on ebay and its definitely not the same when you can see it in person, by the way mine was listed, i got the impression that it was near perfect, except the purple wire syndrome issue, which was noted
here a list of the things i had to fix or replace:
rotor cap, which was corroded inside and only bolted with one bolt
spark plugs, all bad in a wide varity of gaps, one didnt even match the set
wires, one not completely seated to plug
vac lines bad, some not even connected
half an alarm system, causing electical short
headlights dim, due to corroded connection
bad blower relay
front disc pads very worn
pvc valve clogged
coolant bad
bad motor mounts causing rad hose to get cut
fuel filter clogged and corroded lines
still need to fix:
fog lights not woking (fixed)
ac compressor not working (fixed)
washer pump not pumping (fixed)
despite all the unexpected things, i love this truck, it runs great now
buying a vehical on ebay, you should ask a ton of questions

I got lucky with my truck :D . I talked with the previous owners and many people on this forum who knew the truck. It's fine to go back and add details about a truck but when details are omitted then I definately think :squint: , what else is being "forgot".

Having bought a Syclone new, still owning it. And having worked on a dozen of them over the years. When I went to buy Syclone #2. I was so picky. And the average seller was owner number 5. Harder than hell to find a truck that had never been wrecked, or the engine was original. Most that had that trucks didn't know anything about them. I bought a built engine truck a Vette guy had just dumped a pile of cash into. But couldn't make it run right. Body was good for a western truck. Syclone #3 I got from an orignal owner woman. She found out I had some trucks and wanted me to look at it. See why it ran rough. Solid CA truck. Interior was mint. Exterior was an 8.5-9. Sort of the same thing when I found # 4. Had seen this woman driving it around for a couple years. Never talked to her till last fall. Original woman owner, again!! Really never got a chance to. Its the roughest of my four trucks. Spent some time in an eastern state when it was new. Being built on the same day as my original, I couldn't pass it up. So I am batting 3 for 4 with original owner trucks. The Sonoma GT. Think I am owner #4. Good everyday driver though. Now I found an original owner Typhoon. To complete my Sy/Ty collection!!! Yes I read all the ads I see on ebay or other places. Makes me appreciate my stuff thay much more. As original unmolested trucks get hard to find everyday.

I know. I need to line all four Syclones up, the weathered old Sonoma GT. And possibly a Typhoon here soon. Will definitely get some pics.

Ditto. As far as I'm concerned, the ONLY way to buy a SyTy on ebay. If it's an unknown truck, or someone can't check it out for you, run - don't walk the other way.

Re: funny thing about ebay ads...

I got lucky and got my truck on Ebay without seeing it first OR even test driving it. I am the 3rd owner and it had never been wrecked (well thats what carfax said). I paid more than I probably should have though, but it was worth it in my eyes ---
