Fuel P goes up 20 # suddenly ?

Been having this problem for at least 6-9 mos. Fuel pressure will run 38-42 # at idle and all of a sudden, it will go up to 60 # and stay there. An On & Off kind of thing. I have one of those Autometer Hi-Lo FP gauges with a sender. Not sure if it can get stuck on the Hi range. But they stopped making this model, so that makes me kind of suspicious. Maybe I'll call them.

Anyway, the shop and I in Englewood, CO have tried about everything - new Walbro in tank, new Adj regulators, return line doesn't seem to be plugged, etc. We found a disintegrated strainer once and replaced it and flushed the line. Maybe we need to flush the lines again, and take the regulator apart again to see if somethings in it.

Anyone else have any ideas ? TIA

can't you check to see if the problem is the gauge with a cheap autobone one?
