Make sure you bleed the pressure through the schrader valve on the fuel rail first... before you take the fuel filter out... Unscrew the cap on the drivers side of the fuel rail.. take a thin device like a phillips screw driver.. cover the tip with a lint free cotton t-shirt,etc.. push down lightly on the valve to bleed the pressure.. a small amount of gasoline will come out, but the thin t-shirt/rag covering the tip of the screwdriver will absorb it.. Once you've bled the pressure take Richme's advice and follow the instructions on richard le's site at...

Amen to that, learned that lesson many years back. It kinda makes you look like a P.O.ed crab on a creeper when you spray gas all in your face.

Kinda went like this. :) ...turn wrench..turn wrench... :-? ....GAS SPRAY... ...the crab move....

No, I didn't get sprayed by the schrader valve. I didn't bleed the system and when I loosened the fuel filter, WHAM.

Also, don't scrape your knuckles up doing spark plugs just before doing the fuel filter. Gas + open wounds = OUCH!

I did the same thing the first time on my Jimmy. When it was the Ty's turn i was loosing the schrader valve and thought it broke, so i looked very close to see if i had broken the screw in side, well no i hadn't and it was one thread from coming loose......

i swear i didn't "cry" but the amount of water my head can retain is amazing.

Ouch, that sound's alot worse than what happened to me. My problem was I couldn't get out from under the truck quick enough.
