Astro steering shafts. Gets rid of the rag joint in the factory steering shaft and provides better steering feel and response, while maintaining the safety with adequate collapse distance in the shaft. Cleaned up, sanded, painted. Drilled for safety bolt with hardware. $65 plus shipping.

And if the steering wheel is out of position we can also provide the modified horn contact ring, or show you what to do. Thanks

I'll take one. Is it a direct bolt -on or is there more grinding of notches needed? Pay to Paypal?

Why wouldn't you use a set screw for instead of a bolt ( in the pic on the right side)? Would make for a cleaner look.

Because the end of the steering column already has a hole cut through it, its safer and easier to use the bolt. Placement of the set screw, additional time to drill and tap on a rounded surface, etc etc. Can definately be done. but for the added time and cost you can really step it up and go with a flaming river or borgsen shaft.

Email sent. Put me down for one.
Thanks

I missed this thread. These are not a direct bolt in... The steering wheel will be 90 degrees off. The only way to make these a direct bolt in is to remove the lower u-joint and reweld it in. Otherwise you needc to re-index the steering wheel and modify the contact ring like in DaveP's post.

Sorry to hijack but thought all should know. Here is a link to the post... I posted another fix at the end of the thread.

To put the shaft into the truck and drive it, it is a bolt in affair. Yes, the steering wheel will be at 90 degrees, and the retention ring will need to be re indexed. We have a full tutorial that we can provide if one needs, and/or we have extra rings with the tooth already ground for proper indexing.

FWIW I would prefer and suggest to reindex the wheel at the ring and not disassemble and weld on the steering shaft.

Thanks

I don't have a dog in this fight but "a direct bolt on" means a replacement part you can install without further modifications, cutting, grinding, trimming, welding, etcetera, and be able to drive off the same way you drone in.

That's the impression I was under...didn't realize I was gonna have to tear the steering wheel off and re-line it up.

RPM sells a direct bolt on, its $255.

I think this is a deal, and worth what ever trouble for installing the new ring they have already modified for you. Even if the ring is $30 thats still way over half the price of the RPM shaft.
