Sy229
Move with Purpose
SOLD! 7/11/14
Originally purchased in Nov 07 with 39K miles, I am the 3rd owner. Six years later the truck is in better running condition than when I bought it, and currently has 68K miles. Good performance condition and appearance. For $9,500 it will turn heads and frequently illicit "Nice Truck!" compliments from complete strangers on your route. I use the truck to commute one week of every month (I have 4 vehicles), so it gets recurring road use and maintenance, and is a reliable daily driver (to the extent that a Sy/Ty can be reliable). I've never had the truck on the track.
One Known Performance Issue:
- One or more of the valve seals is leaking. The familiar symptom is the occasional blue smoke on start-up. This occurs about 10-20% of the time, so I'm guessing one or perhaps two leaky seals.
There are enough mods on the truck that I'll refrain from entering the "Mostly Stock" descriptor debate.
The most notable of these - A previous owner had the truck painted. It's a slightly brighter white than stock, and appears to have been well-prepped to eliminate the orange peel that is seen with many of our trucks. You'll notice the roof rack was also painted (which I really like) along with the wipers (which I'm not as fond of). Overall the paint has held up very well, but you will note a small collection of rock chips along the front surface of the hood.
I recently had the 700R completely rebuilt after twisting the input shaft. The work was done by a trusted local builder (I used the same shop to rebuild by Syclone's tranny seven years ago and it's still going strong). The 1-year parts & labor warranty will transfer to the new owner.
- I replaced the heater core with an all-aluminum box from Autozone last month.
- I replaced a failed fuel pump and sending unit last year with the Walbro upgrade from RPM's inventory.
- The shocks are KYB Monomax I installed about 20K miles ago.
- The stereo is an Alpine with CD player and glove box cable for your MP3 player. There's a small, stand-alone Sony amp and Polk subwoofer in the back (It may not be there if I can sell it before the truck)
- The stock wheels are in very good shape, with only minor blemishes from normal use.
- Street tires with lots of wear remaining - no irregular wear patterns - the front suspension on this truck has always been considerably better behaved than my Sy.
- Other Stuff: Autopage alarm system with 2 remotes; Borla SS exhaust, tinted windows, Ian/Adam's silicone vacuum kit, Clear turn signal covers; Chrome differential cover from LMC.
Finally the truck has relatively little undercarriage rust - I'm in the Tampa area and the previous owner was also a Floridian, and it shows. Just a few pictures here and several more on the PhotoBucket link. Thanks for looking,
