So it was running at some point after your rebuild but not for 500 miles ??? I was under the impression this was a project you started on but never got around to finishing. I am interested in the truck if I can finish what you started and it will run. I assume you have done engine rebuilds in your past so your work is pretty reputable but having never met you, I want to make sure I know the full scoop .

I am far from an accomplished engine builder. This was my first build. It was more of a rebuild really as I bought low-mileage stock bits to avoid machining costs. I reused sensors from the block that came with the Syclone. One of them was an oil pressure sensor that went bad at 600 some odd miles. I've replaced it but sold the headers on it while it was disabled, so haven't had the chance to prove that it really works yet.

For those of you who are not able to visit the truck in person, I understand your hesitancy. It's a bit of a gamble for sure. Keep in mind that I bought it with NO engine for $5500. It's not like I'm making money on it at $7K. I had to buy almost everything to build the engine as I was saving the numbers-matching block for an all-out build, and it had to heads or intakes. So, heads, intake manifolds, turbo...plus corvette rims and tires. I spent a few bucks just to get it where it is now: a heap in my garage :)

I may be a little bit confused and probably missed this, but you took another low mileage engine and rebuilt it so you could save the original numbers matching block for a better build. This means that the original block is not in the truck correct? Do you still have the original numbers matching block?

Yes. The numbers matching block is included if you want it. I was toying with replacing the big block in my new project with a 4.3 turbo but that may never happen :)

Booya baby! Really wish I hadn't sold my drill press now but the deed is done. It's only a matter of time now before the Syclone is running. You effers seem to want to pay more for a running truck anyhow :)

Yes, definately post it up when it is running. I always shell out more for a running vehicle that can be tested before purchase because I can verify the tranny, lights, acceleration, braking and steering conditions as well.

Hopefully not. I got this old beater to sever the ties with the Syclone:

I'm going to rat rod it over time. Either I'll put a turbo 4.3L in it (if I have enough parts leftover after this sale), or wait and do an electric conversion. I'm not sure yet.

Has a turbo 400 in it now...I'd really like a t56.

Messed with the truck some today. Just did a sanity check to make sure the truck can start. So, without the manifolds on I tried to start it (did some fluid prep before this). Wasn't getting any spark so I looked over the mess of wires, noticed an ignition coil wire not hooked up, and realized I must have intentionally "sabotaged" the truck before I let the shippers handle it.

Sprayed some starter fluid past the throttle body and gave it a go and it lit up just fine. Still a lot to do to make it go good again.

Great news. Let us know when it is ready to run for at least a 30 minute stretch and I'll have a local check it out for me.

Interesting replacement, I always like those old trucks. If you don't mind me asking what you pay for it and what's all done to it?( you can p.m me the answer if you don't want to post the price.)

Still selling. I haven't had a chance to mess with it anymore but I would like to stress that it doesn't need much to be a daily driver. You'll get every stock part...everything to put it back together.

If someone wants to make an offer for the running truck, then send me a PM. I'll get it back in shape and it'll still be the cheapest low-mileage Syclone you can buy.

If someone wants to make an offer for the rolling chasis, then shoot. I'll sell it for $5500 without then engine/turbo/downpipe and wheels. I guess you can keep the trans and high-stall torque converter. I want the stock low-stall torque converter though :)

Re: FS: 44k Austin Syclone project...make offers!

There's nothing wrong with the truck beyond being partially disassembled. I'm just open to keeping the engine for the 55 Chevy, and this would lower the price to what someone would expect to pay for a non-running truck. I have a spare wiring harness, I think I can get it going but I'd need to get a new fuel tank with in-tank pump. It would be a project, but would be a lot cheaper than an electric conversion for a heavy truck.

A rolling chassis might be up someone's alley. That's what I did with this truck and it was much more at the time. It was frustrating buying all the parts and building the engine, but it was an incredible rush driving the truck afterwards.

Re: FS: 44k Austin Syclone project...make offers!

I got one of those birthday reminders from the site, figured I'd bump my ad. Truck is still sitting in the same condition in the garage of the old house. I had a local look at it but it was too much of a project for him. He may say some words about its condition in the future.

Anyone else near Austin want to take a gander at it? At some point it'll move to the new house but I don't think the old house is going to disappear anytime soon. Nobody is buying anything at all apparently.

I was supposed to take some interior shots for some people, sorry for the lengthy delay but things came up and the truck sale is even now still not top priority. I'll snap some photos next maintenance trip I make to the old house.

Thanks for looking!

Hey there, I thought I had a local sale on this truck but the buyer seems to be flaking out on me.

I'd like to sell the truck ASAP. I have a minimum price in mind and I think it's pretty reasonable. I'm located in NW Austin now

I'm accepting all offers at this point. Worst that'll happen is that I'll say no. Or maybe eff off :)

Please review the thread to see the state of the truck. Nothing has changed accept it's been moved from Leander to Austin proper.

I'll consider trades up or down for a nice classic car. I favor the 49-54 Chevys but am open to others.

Also, I'll consider a swap for a running t56-based car with positraction. Not super particular on what variety.

$6K for it as it sits, with the ZR1s, and all the stock parts I have.

So how much is your asking price for it as a roller? You will keep engine/transmission/wring harness right? Will you leave all the front wheel drive stuff there too? If you're going to put that into an older truck, you should get the old truck body and use everything BUT the body off your syclone. How much for just the body then? No engine, no trans, no wiring harness, no frame just body and complete interior+cladding. I got a reg S-10 frame of my own.
