FRUSTRATION - new injectors = no start = FIXED!!!!

PROBLEM SOLVED - you guys saved me a bunch of time and effort. THANKS AGAIN!

Ok guys I am in dire need of some help. Here is my problem:

The truck was running lean and fouling out #1 plug - figured it was a bad injector and with 110k it was time for newer ones anyway.

Bought a set of 33#ers off of TYTILIDIE on the board. I installed them last night and buttoned everything up tonight. The truck just dry cranks but will not start.

I have checked all the vacuum lines, all the wiring harnesses, have good fuel pressure at the rail, and no codes on TunerPro. There are no fuel leaks anywhere I can see and I have the AFPR set at 50 just like with the old injectors.

I know the injectors are seated correctly on the rail - they were hard to get into the intake but they seem to be seated correctly there too and the rails bolted back up without forcing anything.

The injectors are the only thing that I have changed so I need to know if there is a way to determine if they are spraying or not. The plugs are bone dry when I take them out after cranking for a while. I am assuming this means the injectors are not spraying at all?

Can they be checked with an ohm meter or is there something I can look for in TunerPro?

My plan for tomorrow is to spray some starter fluid into the TB and see if it will even fire that way. The only other thing I can possibly think of is that I have a vacuum hose crossed??? I broke one of the hard lines to the map sensor but fixed it and I think it is reconnected correctly. But I would think it would at least try to start with that problem.

Any tests or checks I can perform would save me a lot of time and headaches and I would like a plan of attack for tomorrow. I really need the truck running by Thursday.

Sorry for the long post - just trying to get all the info out there. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,

Dustin

Do you have noid lights? See if you are getting injector pulse.

No noid light. Is there a way to check without it? I guess I could rent one if not.

Dont one of the ECM fuses have something to do with this? I would say for shits and giggles to check them just in case. I can tell you for sure they worked just fine last time I ran them. You must be forgetting them or something. Let me know what you come up with.

After thinking a little more in depth here, I guess you wouldn't be seeing anything in tuner pro if an ecm fuse was blown ( I could be wrong). Are you sure your fuel pump is pressurizing? If it is, I cant think of 1 reason why 6 injectors wouldn't fire at all except if the harness was unplugged.

Yes they do. He indicated "fuel pressure at the rail" so i assumed they are OK. If the fuel pumps does the 2 second 'prime' upon key-on, both fuses are OK.

But a good thought. Check them. ECM A & B.

 Ok I just re-read. Didn't see that for some reason. Any chance at all you unhooked the harness and forgot to plug it back in? Try your old injectors see if they fire up. I don't mind giving you your money back if they all don't work but I know they do sop something elsewhere has to be happening. Anyway, like I said before, let me know what you come up with.

Disconnected 4-wire connector on the distributor will cause no injector pulses. ECM doesn't know the engine is 'turning'.

True, but why the hell would anyone do that while changing injectors out? If you think about what he did and the process of doing it, it really doesn't make much sense. I suppose something could have been pulled accidentally. Also, are you sure you pushed the injectors connectors on all the way? You did hear them snap in to place right?

how long were they sitting before they were sold? gummed up?

i took the harness off the dis to change the rail the other day to get to an injector - maybe he did the same?

Re: FRUSTRATION - new injectors = no start = need help

As far as I know I did not disconnect the harness from the distributor. I will check this evening just to make sure I did not accidentally disconnect anything. As for the fuses - I know that the ECM A&B are both good since I already changed them out just in case.

TYTILIDIE - I will let you know as soon as I figure it out. I am hoping it is somethign as simple as a harness I am missing. It is acting like none of them are spraying at all so I am leaning toward electrical.

Thanks for the replies everyone - as always you are a weatlth of information.

if you still got an injecor that you took off, try to hook that one up, and let somebody start the truck and see what it does. if the rest has been checked ofcourse.
seems like a 2min. job to have it checked.

As a last resort try what I currently have to do with my Ty to get it started. Unplug the coolant temp sensor in the front and try starting. Mine fires right up.

OK GOT IT FIXED - THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR IDEAS.

When I got home this evening I decided to go through all the wiring with a fine tooth comb since everyone seemed to think it was a harness issue.

I found that the injector harness was not completely connected to the distributor plug. Pushed the plug all the way in and if fired right up. I never even considered that since I never unplugged that one - must have accidentally tugged on it while removing the rail.

So anyway - problem solved. Thanks for everyones help.

TYTILIDIE - the injectors work great. I dont think the truck has ever run this good.
