Is the one to get IMO, I have owned a gilbert, stock, and now a D&R.

Last time I bought some 80e shafts there were ~$250 shipped to my door. Gilbert is ~$400 or so now and no stronger at all.

DR uses stock flange on the front, so less work also, just bolts in.

Is the front shaft the normal one to break? I guess this is something I'll fix once its broken...heh. Good info to know.

Re: front prop shaft upgrade

I would replace it before it breaks.

When they break, I have seen them take out the wiring to rear of truck, fuel pump, and rip sections of metal off the side of the transmission.

Had to jab my size 13 shoe on the floor board of a ty once to push the floor back down also.

I wouldn't WAIT.

Re: front prop shaft upgrade

front driveshaft loop will prevent a lot of damage yes. 99% of trucks don't have one.

Depends also what end breaks as to what gets damaged.

I thought so, just wanted to confirm. Again, thanks for the info. In that case I'll fix it when it breaks.

A little defensive eh? Nope just wondering. Not alot of peeps spraying their SyTy's. Everone is scared of those fragile(thats french) pistons. Including me.

Good luck. Are you coming to SyTy nats 11?

Yes. I have never heard of someone breaking a rear driveshaft in a SyTy. The front one gets put into a severe bind when properly boost launched. It is even worse with a busted motor mount. Which is common.

You can prolong a stock prop shafts life by limiting travel in the front end and installing a solid motor mount on the drivers side.:2cents:

Re: front prop shaft upgrade

so they are better than stock? that was what i was worried about.

Never heard of D&D before - as long as my gilbert is better than stock as I too paid $400 for one!

Yes both the gilbert and D&D are far superior than a stock prop shaft. D&D is what Blake has been selling for the last 2-3 years.
