I've been driving my ty for the last couple of weeks with some grinding coming from the front end at slow speeds when turning, right or left. Last night driving home from work there was a loud snap that sounded like I hit something, but there was nothing around. I went into work today and I was all over the road, I though it may have been the wind but cant say. Also on the way home from work tonight ( we got about 3 inches of slush today) I was washing all over the road. The strange thing was I going up a hill with a slight curve to the left in the slow lane going about 45 and a grinding went through my ty like I was riding the wake up tracks, we don't have them here. I think my wheel bearings went out, is this a good assumtion, or could it be someting else? Someone please help.

If the shuddering/grinding noise seems worse when you corner slightly either way it's a good bet that one or both of your front wheel bearings are done.

Lift the truck and support it by the lower control arms. Give both front wheels a shake at the 12 and 6 oclock positions as well as the 3 and 9 oclock positions.

If the bearing is loose you will feel/see it. At this point you should also inspect the rest of the front end components, ball joints, tie rods etc.

The ball joints can be checked during the 12/6 shake
the steering components are checked during the 3/9 shake.

Note: in order to check the ball joints properly the vehicle must be supported by the lower control arm.

I jacked it up this morning here is the verdict. Passenger- 6/12 solid, 3/9 loose. Driver 6/12 loose, not real loose. 3/9 loose. I have not felt any thing in there or seen anything to determine if the wheel bearings are shot . Was there a recall on any thing up there? Now what? Thanks for your help.
