Re: Front and Rear LS1 Brakes
The syty spindles need to be modified , or the F body spindles need to be used and modified?
I started a thread trying to compose a complete list on what all is needed to swap LS1 brakes into our trucks.
No one so far had mentioned spindles.
On the sonoma gt or 2wd s10 You have to cut the mounting ears off the spindle in the front and then get a bracket to go from the spindle to the caliper bracket, after that you cut the front rotors down to 5.9 in so it would like a newer hub bearing then the ls1 rotor goes over that. After that you just have the hose to mount up. Im not exactly sure how the syty's are but i know its been done.
The back brakes should bolt right up you will just have to pull the axles to do them which isn't hard, because im pretty sure the sgt and syty's have the same rear end. There is a DIY thread on here someone did, I believe you can use the parking brake cables as well by swapping sides or turning them upside down, Im not sure I didn't put them on my truck since its auto.
Pro-tourings10.com has a lot of info and a quick search over there will show you the brackets needed.
The spindles aren't needed to do it, I didn't mean to cause confusion i just wanted to post i had them in case theres was interest.
Im assuming shipping will be 40-50 because obviously brake parts are heavy. Usually Fedex is cheapest for this type of stuff.
