Mark you talkin about the saleen turd? He didnt bother to stop at the corner. I dont remember anyone with a roush at the local gay-bo hangout. i know i wont be able to hide that turbo whistle.

Ah yeah...Saleen, Roush, it's all the same bag lady, just with a different hat. Which corner were you at, Colonial and Orange? I might have to drag my ass out there this Saturday night, after the Miami-ECU game and the Wing House hangout at 436 and I-4.

Well, you may not be able to hide the turbo whistle, but we could always install some whistle tips to disguise the noise, Bubb Rubb style...WOO WOOO!

Futhermore any person that treasures his ride wouldnt be caught dead in a drive through or coin operated car wash. I have yet to hear of a single person having an issue with the cladding falling off their truck through normal useage and wear.

maybe they should, then there would be less of you dumbass Mustang guys around.

Hell my 10 year old 'AVALANCHE' (as you call it) with 109,000 miles on it and a BAD Intercooler pump ran a 13.7, its BONE STOCK and it STILL outruns a '03 Mustang GT !!! Get over it, the GT is a PIG, and it will continue to be until Ford wakes up and realizes that its SUPPOSED to be a Sports Car, not an economical grocery getter.

OK guys, I see that I've found the token "vehicular supremacy douchebag" that all car groups seem to have. They exist everywhere...Mustangs, Camaros, and even the ricers have them. However, this one felt it necessary to point himself out to me...a classy touch.

Adam/Ian/Warren, which one of you was telling me about the guy who lost his cladding while driving through a car wash? Refresh my memory. I don't think it was Corey...he "only" got T-boned by a delivery truck. Or was it one of you guys? At least I'm not making it up.

I've seen, in person, 2003 Mustang GTs running in the 13.30s on normal radials...NOT drag radials either. Without crazy bolt-ons either...at the most, just headers, no cats, and gears. That's it. In fact, it was last June in Gainesville...yup, in the middle of a 95* day. Let's see what your broke-ass intercooler pump will do in the middle of a Florida summer ("oh pleeeease let it run mid 14s").

Let's not start with the F-body discussion. Good power, true...but their interiors fall apart and rattle like shit. They have notoriously lousy build quality and questionable ergonomics (the passenger-side catalytic converter "hump"). And if they were so great, then why couldn't GM manage to sell any? The new Mustangs are coming out in less than a year, and will sell like crazy. If keeping the Mustangs "relatively" slow keeps the corporate bills paid, then so be it...at least they won't go the way of the F-body. I can always make one faster, anyway.

OK, all of the cool SyTy guys can stop reading now, since I'm about to bring some harsh reality to Mr. Asshat. The GT is a pig, you say? Well, let's see...you're the one driving around in a truck (albeit a pretty cool, quick one...it's not the truck's fault that you bought it) that barely has enough cargo capacity to carry your fatass girlfriend in the bed (all 500 lbs of her), but has zero towing capacity, so you can't pull her BBQ trailer when you go out to dinner. Don't come talking shit to me about which car isn't what it's supposed to be. Again, cool SyTy guys, please don't take offense.

Keep in mind that I'm absolutely NOT ragging on SyTys...I remember spooging over the first one that I saw way back in college. That was one bad mofo, sitting there in the U of Miami parking lot (damn football players LOL). If I look hard enough, I can find the Car & Driver / Road & Track / whatever issue where they whooped up on the "badass" Vette of the time. I'm just not a narrow-minded piece of shit who thinks that his vehicle is so much better than everyone else's. I like cool cars, no matter what the make or model, pure and simple...hell, I might even offer Warren $500 for everything in his garage right before he moves. If it's a funky combination that nobody else has, well shit, son, let's see it! My dad's first car was a late 1940s/early 1950s Mercury that he stuffed an early 331 cid Chrysler hemi into ("You're building a bastard!" his old man would yell at him). ALL cars have their shortcomings, period. All of our vehicles suck in different ways. If the automakers didn't cut corners to keep costs down (Mustang = ancient but cheap 1978 Fairmont platform with strut front suspension with speed parts are cheap, easy, and reliable; F-body = rattles and poor build quality with a weak axle, but fun power; SyTy = heavy truck with minimal utility but hauls ass, looks evil, and hooks in the rain; Buick GN = grandma's car with new trim and a kickass engine; the list could go on), then we wouldn't be able to afford anything worth playing with.

All we can really do is pick something that we like, fix its shortcomings, and have fun with it...no matter what it is. I certainly won't fault you for that. But it doesn't keep you from being a douchebag, which you're guilty of.

BTW, my old turbocharged, stock 100K-mile shortblock combo in my 3700 lb 1994 GT convertible ran back-to-back 11.65 @ 122, 11.80 @ 121, and 11.67 @ 121 in the heat...then I drove it 120 miles home. My current naturally aspirated combo in the same 3700 lb GT runs 12.8 @ 108, and makes 322 rwhp and 330 rwtq with 304 cid. Remind me to wash my taillights so you get a nicer view.

No question to me that you must be the same "vehicular supremacy douchebag" on a Mustang board, hell sounds like yer trying to be that HERE !

First of all, there was a fellow list member present @ the track when I ran the 13.7, and I know he will vouch for my truck and its mods (or lack of at that time) and he can also verify that it was QUITE WARM taht day in the neighborhood of low 90's. And once again you arent READING the post I made. I said SHOWROOM STOCK, not as you mentioned "Without crazy bolt-ons either...at the most, just headers, no cats, and gears. That's it. In fact, it was last June in Gainesville...yup, in the middle of a 95* day." obviously that part slipped past you, so once again, I will say SHOWROOM STOCK. I could argue that by saying a MODDED F-body with a 150 shot of nitrous would out run an '03 Cobra. Is that a fair comparison, no, think not.

you said it in YOUR post ( If keeping the Mustangs "relatively" slow keeps the corporate bills paid, then so be it...)they didnt sell because people couldnt afford to insure them, personally I applaud GM for not bowing down and turning out a mickey mouse sports car, if its gonna sell it will sell with a DECENT engine, not some 225-245hp V8, hell HONDA even makes an Accord with a V6 that will put those numbers down !

True in fact the Fbody is temporarily dead, rumors are what rumors are but the rumor being that it will be replaced in 2005. From what I remember reading GM didnt have the capacity in their RWD platform factories to provide both the F-body and the upcoming SSR. Sure the hype was stronger for the SSR and camaro was on a dated platform and sales were weak so they chose to nix the Fbody so SSR could go into production. GM wasnt about to kill the cash-cow Fullsize Truck platform manufcaturing plant to allow for production of the SSR, so that left only one option, the Fbody plant.

As far as the 'NEXT GENERATION' mustang coming, thats great, the only thing I have ever despised Ford for, is their lack of power in their engines and the reliability of the major components, you seem to feel that a rattly dash and alleged inferior build quality is bad, well, to be honest I'd take a rattle trap that ran vs a nice looking car I couldnt afford to maintain (hence my reason for DUMPING my Supercoupe).

Just wait til the '04 GTO comes out with the 340hp LS1, once people start taking delivery of those the typical Mustang owner will be used to a very familiar sight, THE BACKSIDE OF ANOTHER GM PRODUCT at the track.

Short Bus said:

No doubt and thats why the majority of us are here on this site, to learn maintain and upgrade our toys. But once again, you missed the KEY POINT, I am referring to BONE STOCK vehicle, not something you paid good money for and had to dump a silly amount of $$ to make it comparable to another vehicle.

Well sheeeeeeeit, you know me pretty well it appears, whatever ya do DONT tell my wife about my alleged FAT ASS girlfriend ok ? I wouldnt want her to have to share "cargo capacity in the BED SPACE" well first of all, I dont have one inch of bedspace, I have a Typhoon, last time I checked they didnt have any "BEDS" on them. As far as towing is concerned, I wouldnt hesitate for a minute to use the vehicle to tow anything, problem is, I DONT HAVE anythign thats trailer related so I have nothing to tow. Do the research, there are plenty of people here that HAVE towed and DO tow with both Sys and Tys. I guess you must be referring to the decals that are in place to cover GM in a lawsuit and for warranty issues from some one pulling a 27' boat. But then again, they also tell you that RUNNING THE VEHICLE OVER 15# of boost could damage it, and I think its possible alot of people on this bbs may have exceeded 15# of boost once or twice  , so if you are referring to the factory recommendation and considering it law I guess that means we are all driving stock trucks.

I couldnt agree with this more, I like alot of cars out there, Supra's, 300zx TT's, Fbodys, C5's, GN's, RX-7s, vipers, etc hell I even think that the new Mitsu Evo and the Subaru WRX are pretty tight. As I mentioned before, cars that run the #'s are cool. Unfortunately unless you are willing to spend $35+k for a Mustang you wont find one from the factory that WILL run the #'s

Sure any car can be made fast, its all a matter of how big yer wallet is.. Thats not what I am saying, and if you think that I am referring to ALL mustangs as slow once again you are mistaken. However I will say it again, I am referring to the way it left the plant, not after ya slap $1500 in go-fast goodies on it.

I agree with the first part, but what you are failing to recognize here is that YOU are the one on this board worshipping Mustangs, and thats fine, I dont have a problem with it. Where I feel you made yer mistake was to make an assanine post like you did and expect people to sit here and agree with you. That would be as stupid as me going over to a MUSTANG board and making similar comments and not expect to get flamed. Which, I guess would go with the territory of owning a mustang, well its gotta v8 and its a mustang so its gotta be fast  I guess if yer willing to accept a substandard platform to start with, then you are ready to defend its honor at any cost. Whats really amazing to me, is when you come to a SYTY board and expect people sit around and let you hack their 'toy' of choice apart and gloat about how great a mustang is, geee, common sense would say to me, Goto the mustang board if ya wanna get stroked on it.

Well thats it, had to result to name calling, guess we know what mentality we are dealing with, 'nuff said, I'm not trying to have a conversation with someone who has to resort to Kindergarten Name calling. (most people mature out of this, I'm sure someday it may happen to you).

blaah blaaah blaaah blaaaah, well I got a better on for ya, my dead grandmothers station wagon had a 680 cube and like 19 turbos on it, then it had a 6" exhaust and was packing a 250 shot of nitrous, it ran a 3 second quarter mile with her getting out to smoke a cigarette between shifts.

WTF dude, once again you completely missed the point of my post so I will say it again, ANY CAR can be made fast depending on the size of yer wallet. Hell I saw an AMC Gremlin that would reliably run 11s would I own it, NO , would I even drive it down the strip, prolly not. But its what the guy wanted and its what he built. For that I say KUDO's to him. But was it an 11sec monster from the factory, prolly not.

Why do Mustang owners insist their shit is blistering fast from the factory? I have never seen a stock mustang run decent #'s (well unless yer a ricer). I have seen some fairly decent #'s from Fbodys and other brands in stock trim tho. 'Nuff said on my part, I've said my peace, you prolly will misread this post as you did the others, but thats ok, I have a feeling I am attempting to have a "BATTLE of WITS" with an unarmed man.....

Don't worry, that feeling is mutual. Adam and Ian have been cool enough to back up my vehicle and my abilities, but nobody's coming to your rescue...no friends, huh? I thought this topic was about a syty powered mustang. I came in here and I see ripping on sytys. Even though you said you werent, you were. Saying cladding comes off in car washes. Intercooler pumps blowing. Basic s-10s with ground effects. Im not trying to start anything but...... Most people ignore your negative posts I guess I should too.

Just a quick update......The tystang is getting a mildly built motor (vortecs, forged pistons, rods, cam) ,a 76mm turbo, th400 trans and spool in the rear end with a 3.27 gear. Oh, the motor is already moved back....waaaay back. I had to push the firewall back about 2-3" for it all to clear. The car should be done in about a month. I'll get some track times for y'all too.

An update as of Jan 7th: Most of everything is done and running. I still need to rebuild the rearend. Its still the stock 8.8 with 3.55 gears. At 17psi, its pretty wicked. I just bumped the boost up to 19lbs today. It doesnt sound like alot, but it seemed like it picked up a butt load more power than what the normal 2psi increase is in a syty. The turbo even sounds like a completely different turbo. I have pics if anyone wants to host them then thats cool with me.
